Your eyes open

23rd August 2012

Today is GCSE results day and I can’t believe that it has been 2 years since I received mine. I remember how sick I felt that morning. I was worried I hadn’t achieved BB in science and therefore I wouldn’t be able to go to the college of my choice. However, I did get the grades I wanted and I have just finished my two years at college.

Now I’m off to university and I can’t help but think how insignificant GCSE results feel. They seem pointless. They were useful for getting into college but now they mean nothing. Well, English and Maths will always be useful considering universities want you to have at least a B grade in both subjects (I got an A in both. Don’t ask how!). In all honesty, since I got my place at uni, A Levels now seem insignificant too. It’s strange really.

None the less, I hope everyone receiving their GCSE results today are happy with their results. I couldn’t imagine going back and studying so many subjects and sitting so many exams. Gosh, I even found 3 subjects hard to deal with at college. Let’s see if I can cope with one at uni. πŸ˜›

Two weeks on Saturday I’m moving out and I haven’t done any packing. My room is still exactly the same as it always is and nothing is in boxes. I have never moved house before in my life so I don’t know how to go about packing. It just seems difficult to decide what to take as I can leave a lot of stuff at home. My room at home is a lot bigger than the one at uni will be so I only need to take the necessary things.

I say ‘necessary’ but I will be taking pointless things like my record collection. Or maybe I’ll just take a few records. I don’t have a record player so I can’t listen to them, but they do make lovely decorations for my room.

I’m going to keep myself busy for the next few weeks, just to keep my mind off things. I’m still feeling really nervous, but after talking to other people I know I am not alone.

P.S. I want to do a Q&A blog (or possibly video blog) so I would really appreciate it if you left me one or two questions for me to answer. I like answering questions so be creative. If you have ever wanted to find out something about me then now is your chance to ask. For all of you who ask questions I will link your blog in my next post. Thank you. πŸ˜€

Tests in general used to give me stress, didn’t matter how important the results have been.

Packing, never fun. The first time I moved I didn’t have a clue how to pack and it ended up taking forever. For this trip out to phoenix, its only temporary and were staying in a furnished apartment and are going back to alb when all this is over. I didn’t have a clue what to bring.

It’s so annoying how we work so hard and it all seems like nothing once its over. Gladly we are progressively moving up that education chain and into the real world. Slightly scary though huh?

Packing was the hardest thing for me too, I literally did everything 2 days before because putting it off was easier than actually packing.
Don’t forget our budget challenge haha πŸ˜‰

    1. What’s your most cherish memory?
    2. Favourite TV show and why?

I felt a lot of things I did before college was pointless, but at the same time, having more knowledge is better than less, even if it’s not very useful later on πŸ˜‰

I hope moving goes well! When I first moved, I left a lot of things at my parents’ house and just grabbed them as I needed them since they weren’t far away. The longer I lived away from home, the more I accumulated from just buying things on my own.

    Hm… questions…
    1. How did you choose your major?
    2. Where would you really like to visit one day?

I totally get what you mean! I feel that GCSEs mean nothing! πŸ˜› But obviously that’s just because of how ruthless A-Levels are. :_(

My stuff is in boxes but i’m not prepared but I still have 6 weeks until I move to uni 😐 Annoying.

    1. How did you find/do you think you’ll find balancing blogging and studying?
