The Weekend Blog | I’m off to America!
29th September 2019
Yes! The Weekend Blog is back! 🤩 I can’t promise they will be weekly like they were a few years ago but I do want to get back into the habit of sharing these little snippets of my life.
I’ve spent a lot of this week preparing for our upcoming holiday to LA and Las Vegas next week. I’m one of those people who really enjoys packing for travel and I’m always eager to get started.
Tyrone and I decided to purchase new suitcases for this trip as our old ones are on their last legs, and we wanted extra room for bringing back as many packs of peanut butter M&Ms as possible! We picked up some American Tourister suitcases from Costco and they were an absolute bargain. Honestly, it’s worth getting a Costco card just to buy these suitcases, and my parents have asked me to pick up two for them next time we go!
Apart from a few last-minute jobs to do, I think we’re ready to go and I’m honestly so ready for it. I’ve had a pretty full-on couple of months and I can feel myself starting burning out, so 10 days away from my business and my laptop is going to be very welcome.
I really do love what I do, but when you work from home it can be difficult to obtain a work/life balance. But I won’t be taking my laptop with me, and I don’t have my work emails on my phone, so there’s no way I can be sucked into work. Plus I know that I always come back from a holiday feeling super inspired and motivated. It’s the magic of travel.
This week my parents came over to visit as they wanted to see me before my holiday. It was lovely to catch up over lunch and then have a walk along the seafront in New Brighton. When it started to rain we popped in the arcade and I got in some practice before Vegas. Just kidding, I don’t think they have 2p penny pushers in Vegas. 😂
I also had a lovely co-working day in Liverpool with my friend Julia. I can’t explain how beneficial co-working has been for me. When I first left my job I thought it would be absolutely fine working on my own, and I was. But having a supportive group of fellow business owners who you can meet up with on a regular basis has been amazing. It’s just nice to spend time around people who get what you do and support you through both the good times and the bad.
How was your week and weekend?
