The Weekend Blog (Vol.81)

December is finally here! I survived November, although barely, and I can finally count down the days until Christmas I can go home.

My anxiety has been absolutely terrible this week as I’m still not feeling 100% after the incident I spoke about in the Weekend Blog last week. But instead of moaning about it all over again I though I’d highlight some of the better parts of my week.

Tyrone and I met in town after work on Monday to do some shopping. He wanted jumpers and I wanted Christmas presents, and we discovered that shopping after work is so much better than shopping at the weekend in the Christmas season. Shops that are usually too busy to go in are a little bit quieter and makes Christmas shopping a tad bit easier.

You can probably guess I failed my November goal of finishing my Christmas shopping by the end of November. Actually, I failed ALL of my goals for November. Bravo, Holly.

We put our Christmas tree up on Tuesday because we were too excited and couldn’t wait any longer. I picked up three new decoration from my travels this year so it’s looking very geographical.

I launched my first ever reader survey on Thursday and I would appreciate it so much if you were to fill it in. To those who already have, thank you so, so much!

It was our workplace Christmas meal last night, but the celebration started while we were still in the office. We had bacon and sausage baguettes for breakfast, then mulled wine, prosseco and cookies during the afternoon office meeting. Yep, I love my job!

We had our Christmas meal at an Italian restaurant in Liverpool. I had a lovely evening with lovely people and drank a lot of wine. It was the pick-me-up I needed.

Now there are just 13 more working days before I go home for Christmas, which I am ridiculously excited about. In the meantime I’m going to try and enjoy December and all the festiveness as much as possible.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Such a positive attitude, that is great! Your week sounds lovely, I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xx

I hate shopping at the weekend. It’s definitely the worst part of having a 9-5 now – I miss being able to go do things on quiet weekday mornings. Hope you get the Christmas shopping finished soon!

I love your Christmas tree. There’s some similar ones in the window of the hairdressers near me and I’ve been telling my boyfriend that I want one. I don’t think he’ll let me have a second tree in our tiny flat though. We’re going to be tripping over the first one, no doubt.

Your job sounds great – glad you enjoyed the Christmas party! We’re having Christmas dinner this week in the canteen, so here’s hoping that’s good.

Aww, sorry to hear that you’ve not been feeling great. Hope you feel better soon!

Quiet week day mornings are the best time to run errands and shop.

Thank you. πŸ™‚ I wish I had room for another tree, or at least a bigger one. I’m definitely going to buy real ones when I buy a house.

  3. Oh no, I hope the neighbour situation gets sorted soon so you can feel a bit better! December is an awesome month though, I agree with the afternoon shopping, it makes me feel more productive too! x
