The Weekend Blog (Vol.78)

31st October 2015

Learning to love being an introvert

This week I finally got around to uploading my HTML and CSS tutorials to the blog, and in case you miss the post, you can find them by clicking the Learn to Code link at the top of the page.

You may have noticed that the Learn to Code has replaced the Shop link which once linked to my Etsy shop. This is probably a good time to mention that my shop is now closed. Unfortunately, now that I am working I don’t have the time to make comic book shoes any more. I really don’t want to waste my weekends standing in a massive queue in the post office, or picking up supplies from town.

It’s sad because I loved my little shop, and I loved the feedbackΒ  received from my customers. But it’s okay because it was a great experience and I learnt a lot along the way.

Anyway, back to this week. At work I started helping out with support, which means I’ve been fixing problems and making changes to the websites based on the clients requests. I love problem solving and I’ve been getting a real sense of achievement out of this.

It was Tyrone’s 22nd birthday on Wednesday. Neither of us get too excited by our birthdays, so we kept it simple and just went out to Nando’s for food in the evening. The photo above is of the card I gave him. I thought some of you may appreciate the humour. It certainly made me chuckle.

Today I met Anca from Anca’s Lifestyle for a coffee and a catch up. We went to a coffee shop called Rubens located on Albert Dock, and then popped into town for a little bit of shopping. We went to Paperchase to find the cards that my brother has designed, but they hadn’t got any in stock. If you are interested in seeing his cards, you can find them on the Whale & Bird website. Aren’t they cute?!

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. I’m glad you met a fellow blogger and had fun =)

  2. Jamie

It’s always interesting to meet a fellow blogger, though I have yet to meet any of you, yet. I hope that one day I will meet at least one of you guys!

I’m going to have to check out those tutorials.

Happy birthday to Tyrone! Yeah, I didn’t do much for my birthday either, except go to restaurants. That was about it. I think as you get older, you stop caring. Well, some more than others.

One day! You live a lovely part of the world so I’m sure I will visit some day. πŸ™‚

Yeah, I definitely feel like this. I think birthdays go down hill after your 21st.

      • Jamie

Hey, you never know! I hope that we end up meeting one day. I think you live in a lovely part of the world, not me.

  3. I’m so glad we could catch up. We should do that more often πŸ™‚ I had a look on the website and your brother has amazing designs, he is so talented.

  4. Sorry to hear that your shoe shop has had to close, but yay for your ebooks! I used to be able to code CSS very well, but since using WordPress I’ve lost any knowledge I have, so I’m looking forward to picking myself back up with the help of your series!

Happy Birthday Tyrone, the card you got is amazing =p The cards you brother designed are lovely too. I really like the one with the tiger on.
Glad to hear that work is treating you well!

I went through I phase when I first started university where I didn’t code for months and I forgot so much of the languages. Now I’m doing it everyday for my job it’s become second nature, but there’s still so much to learn.

  5. Cat

That’s sad that you closed your shop! But that’s understandable since you’re working during the day now. There’s only so much time in the day, and doing work outside of work can get tiring too. I’m glad things are still going well at work!

haha, I love that card. It’s cute and funny πŸ™‚ Your meet-up with Anca sounds fun too!

    • Holly

I would have wasted so much of my valuable free time if I had kept the shop open, but it was good while it lasted. πŸ™‚

  6. Hey looks like you had a fun week!
As I told you before, I loved your Learn to Code ebooks. I am sorry to hear that you closed your shop, but given that u have a proper day job, weekends should be more relaxing for you to keep the balance!
It’s so awesome that you got to meet a fellow blogger like Anca! Seems like your meet up was super fun!

I’m so glad you like them! I appreciate my weekends so much more now that I’m working, as well as my week day evenings.
