New Job Card

I am pleased to announce that after being unemployed for three month and after applying for 93 jobs I finally have a job!

You can all breath a sigh of relief as there will be no more unemployment related Weekend Blogs. Hooray!

As of September I will be employed as a Junior Web Developer and I could not be happier. It’s the perfect start to my coding career and I’m excited for the future.

This job means I can stay living in Liverpool with Tyrone, I can start learning to drive again, Ty and I can go to America next summer and I can even start saving for a house. Yeah, I know a house sounds extreme but you have no idea how much I have missed having a garden.

I can’t wait to start, but I am going to enjoy the few weeks I have off before I join the team. I don’t feel like I’ve had a summer break because applying for jobs is a job in itself.

On Tuesday, as well as having an interview for the web developer job, I also had an interview at Lush which was probably the most enjoyable interview I’ve ever had. I even got to see Holly from Holly Quills and Ivy and purchase some of the new products from the Oxford Street range. As much as enjoyed the interview it made me realised that retail work would be impossible for me. My legs were aching after less than 2 hours of standing around.

Next weekend I’ll be at my cousin’s wedding in Shropshire (I’m a bridesmaid!) so I’m not sure when the Weekend Blog will go up, but I hope to share with you some photos of my dress.

Have a great weekend!

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. Congratulations Holly! I am excited for you and I am sure you will learn a lot at the company you will be working for. Make sure you learn a lot because that’s what work experience is all about, and it keeps you on your feet. πŸ™‚ Applying for jobs is a job indeed – I know I moved to a new job recently but I have been searching for something else because I’m not sure I like it too much.

It must have been interesting to meet another Holly from another blog! I am also not interested in working in retail, not because of standing (I can generally stand for long periods of time without too much issue), but because I don’t think the job would interest me at all and I’m not very good at selling. πŸ˜›

    Hope the wedding goes well.

    • Holly

Thank you! I love learning so I feel like this is the perfect job for me.

I hope you manage to find a new job soon.

It was quite funny because out of like 20 people there were 4 Holly’s! It got quite confusing.

Another reason why I hate retail is because people can be so rude. I mean, I image you will get rude people in any work place, but retail is probably the worst.

  2. Michelle

Congrats! Congrats! ^^ I knew you could do it, next is my turn after being out of work for nearly 10 years. I think I can do it? Shouldn’t be too hard, honestly. Enjoy that wedding! ^^

    • Holly

Thank you! Good luck with finding a job. I’m sure you will be able to do it. If I did, anyone can!!

I’m thinking about sharing my tips on finding a job soon so maybe that will come in handy.

  3. Kendel

Yaaaaaay! I’m so happy for you, lovie! I knew it was going to work out! πŸ™‚

  4. Congrats on your job!! I’m so happy for you.

  5. Susanne

Yes! Yes! Congratulations!! That job sounds perfect for you! Good luck and enjoy the normal life that comes with having a job. Having a routine, money, being able to make plans. And it’s not at all strange to want to save for a house. It’s lovely to have your own place, and yes, a garden.

    • Holly

Thank you! I can’t wait to get into a normal routine and have a regular income, rather than having a student loan come in three times a year and making it last for 12 months!

  6. Congratulations on getting the new job! Especially on something you like doing :). It’s always good about planning and saving up to buy a house. I think of it as the best investment you can make, because you own the property rather than renting it. Lush’s products are amazing!

Congratulations to your cousin as well and wish them the best!

    • Holly

Thank you! I never imagined I would get a job doing something so interesting to me.

Renting is such a money, so I can’t wait to have somewhere to truly call our own.

  7. Congrats!

I know how hard it can be to find a job. It took me like a year to get my first one. Its gets very frustrating.

Good luck, I’m sure you’ll do great!

    • Holly

Thank you! Even though three months of job hunting felt like forever for me I know that I was lucky to get something so soon.

  8. Congratulations on getting a job Holly! I hope this means you can enjoy this next weekend a bit more without the looming idea of job hunting on the Monday after, also can’t wait to see your wedding pics!

    • Holly

Thank you! Yes, I’ll enjoy it so much more. And because I know I haven’t got anything to rush back for I’m going to extend my stay at home and enjoy some time with my family.

  9. Congrats again on the job! It must be so great to know you have a stable income coming your way soon. πŸ™‚ I hate when it comes up to summer and noone has hired me yet. I get anxious around October and uni is usually out around November. I can’t imagain what my stress levels will be like when I’m close to graduating.

I’m not a fan of customer service roles. However working for LUSH?! Argh. I WISH! But we only have one store in the area I live and it’s like an hour+ via two buses away. πŸ™

Best of luck with your new job!

    • Holly

Thank you! Yes, I’ve been saving my money and spending very cautiously, so now I’m making up for it and buying things I’ve been wanting for ages.

Lush is like the one shop I would want to work in. And even though I won’t be working there I’m glad I got to go to the interview.

  10. Cat

Aw, what a cute card! Congrats again on getting the job! I think it’s fine to have big goals like saving for a house. It gives you something exciting to work towards πŸ™‚

I don’t think I could handle all the standing that retail jobs require. Standing desks are popular now at tech places, and I was like, no thanks, haha.

I hope you have fun at the wedding later!

    • Thank you! I hate living in a flat so living in a house would make my life seem so much more complete.

I have a height adjustable desk that reaches standing height but I couldn’t imagine working on a computer while standing.
