The Weekend Blog | Promotion
16th October 2016
Before we begin, I thought it was worth mentioning that this is my 400th blog post!
And I know there is some of you out there who have been reading from day one, so thank you sticking around for 400 posts!
Fortunately my 400th post features some good news…
On Wednesday I got a pretty awesome surprise.
I got a promotion!
I’m no longer a junior!
I was totally not expecting it. Especially considering I’ve only been working as a junior developer for a year and that you are normally a junior for longer than this.
I’ve worked hard over the past year to prove I was the right person for the job and that taking on someone with no relevant qualifications was worth the risk. I’m just so happy that my work has been recognised and rewarded.
And I’m happy because the pay rise will come in handy now I own a car. I can afford to put petrol in it! Woo!
It’s funny because the night before I go promoted I’d wrote an entry in my journal about self-doubt and how I felt like I could be doing more to get to where I want to be.
As it turns out, in reality, I’m doing just fine. I’m just a worrier.
The timing of my promotion coincided with a colleague’s leaving drinks so it was a great way to celebrate. But then I ended up with a bit of hangover the next day. When will I learn?!
This weekend has just been really relaxed. Tyrone and I went into Liverpool yesterday because it feels like ages since we’ve been shopping in town. I treated myself to some goodies from Victoria’s Secrets as a sort of present for my promotion. I also bought that box of Krispy Kremes you can see up there because, well, I don’t treat myself a enough.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
