The Weekend Blog | Karma

Do you believe in karma? I do.

And I’ve got an awesome story involving a big old dose of karma.

Our flat went up on Zoopla at the beginning of the week and so my letting agency started arranging viewings with me. One person viewed it on Wednesday and decided they wanted it. They didn’t seem bothered when I mentioned that it was over looked by the student accommodation, and when I tried to show them around the flat they said they already knew the layout. At first I thought it was a bit odd but then I thought no more of it.

Until Friday, when I discovered something. I discovered that the person who viewed our flat works for the building management of the apartment block. I believe he is going to be the new manager of the site.

What does this mean? Well, it means that the manager of the building will be living next to my problematic next door neighbour. The one who plays music in the early hours of the morning. The one who threatened us. The one who set my anxiety off.

So, when the manager is woken in the earlier hours of the morning, goes to ask the neighbour to keep the noise down, and is told not to come f***ing knocking again (like he did to us), the neighbour is going to poop his pants when he realises he’s living next to the manager.

That, my friends, is karma.

Anyway, there is just one week to go until the big move.

Yesterday Tyrone and I went on an adventure (we’ve been having a lot recently) to a retail park near the airport as we needed to look at sofas. I’m happy to order my washing machine, fridge freezer and even bed online, but I would never order a sofa without seeing it in person. You’ve got to test these things! Same with mattresses.

We’ve seen one we like but we don’t want to order it until we’ve moved into the house and we know if is possible to bring a sofa of that size into the house.

Regardless of not buying a sofa, we had a pretty good day out and the made the most of it by calling in at Pizza Hut for lunch.

When we got pack we made a serious start on packing, and we didn’t stop until midnight. I’m slightly worried though as I look around the flat and realise that there is still so much to do. We own more stuff that we initially thought and packing takes much longer that I assumed.

It’s a bit stressful.

There won’t be a Weekend Blog next week for obvious reasons. My internet should be up and running at the house on the Wednesday after we move in, so hopefully I won’t lose my mind in those few internet free days. In fact, the detox will do me good.

See you on the other side (of the river)!

P.S. That One Line A Day journal is the best! I’ll probably write a post on it in the future.

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. Woooooo, this is going to sound pretty Australian, but – sucked in – to your shitty neighbour. *party dance*

Best of luck with the move!! I spotted a journal similar to that but I knew I would probably not use it that much. I can write a line a day, and I like writing in a notebook. Iβ€˜m just not sure if I would find it as useful or interesting as you do. I rarely look back on my writing, but I am interested to hear what you have to say about it.

Hehe! If I hadn’t been work when I found out I would have totally done a little victory dance!

I really like the One Line A Day journal as its easy to keep up to date and doesn’t require much effort. I’m also trying to write down positive things that happen each and every day so when I look back each year I will be able to remember the good things that have happened to me.

  2. Good luck with the move & can’t wait for the ‘karma’ neighbours to meet each other, haha.

  3. That’s great, your neighbour will have a lovely surprise :)) I hope the move will be easy and smooth.

  4. Chynna

I am a big believer in karma!

Ah, I hope they get their asses whooped by the new manager. I had people who play their music so loud, especially late at night – so inconsiderate. I have neighbours who do it, and it’s so annoying.

Are you excited to move? I’m the same, when it comes to mattresses and sofas, you have to fully test it out.

    Good luck with the move!

It was horrible. It just be came too frustrating and draining to deal with. Every time we woke us up we would ring his letting agency and they just kept telling us we didn’t have sufficient evidence (despite the fact we had videos!).

I’m very excited. Stressed and nervous but mainly excited!

      Thank you. πŸ™‚

  5. Now *that* is what I call karma in action!

  6. Krystal

Hi there, I’m a newcomer. Nice blog!

Last year I lived in a beautiful victorian mansion but my neighbour was a full blown alcoholic who would invite people back from the bar at 3am and throw a party in the hallway. On one occasion, he got into an actual fist fight in the hallway. My landlord didn’t seem concerned so I gave my notice and got the hell out of there! I live in a house now and I cherish the silence.

Good luck with your move. I hope your new home is blissful and quiet!

    • Holly

      Thanks for stopping by!

That sounds terrible. It seems like so many people are affected by horrible neighbours at some point. I don’t understand why people aren’t more considerate.

      Thank you. πŸ™‚

Ah, “karma is a bitch”. I am laughing so much right now, I hope the manager kicks the guy out..

I am so happy about your move, and that you found a new place. Good luck on the sofa hunt, testing sofas is one of the more fun things to do. And I know how stressfull moving can be, I still have some boxes of box and clothes standing in my freinds basement from my move in January. So good luck with the moving!

I hope you write a post about one line a day book, I’ve been wanting to check it out but I can’t find it in stores here in Norway..

    • Holly

      I hope so too!

Thank you. πŸ™‚ I literally sat on every sofa in the store, even the ones I didn’t like!

Will do. I bought mine of Amazon.

  8. Susanne

Yay, that’s just perfect about the manager moving in next to the crappy neighbour!!!
Good luck with moving, I know very well how stressful that is.

  9. Cat

I hope that scenario actually happens! That’d be so nice if your noisy neighbor was finally caught!

I feel the same way with sofas. I really want to see them in person and sit on them. I’ve been meaning to buy a new sofa for a few years now, but we haven’t picked out one we really like yet. (And of course, we also get lazy about going out to shop for one.)

I hope packing is going well! Good luck with the move!

    • Holly

      It would be amazing!

I only found one sofa I actually liked when we went looking around the shops, and fortunately it was the cheapest!

It’s nice to know that karma does happen, and the things people do will always get back to them.
Shopping for furnitures and household stuff sounds fun. It’s essentially building the “psyche” of your home.
