The Weekend Blog | Home again (Lanzarote)

I have returned from my holiday to Lanzarote!

And I’ve already been back to work, so I guess I’ve settled right back into reality. Although I’m still day dreaming about those cocktails by the pool, those walks along the promenade and those magnificent volcanoes.

I really did have a great time, apart from getting some sort of food poisoning on Sunday night. But I won’t dwell on it here and I’ll try not to let it ruin my memories, but yeah, that wasn’t fun. I’m taking it up with the travel company now I’m back home.

I don’t have that many photographs compared to my holiday last year but that’s because this was more of a relaxing holiday than a sightseeing holiday, which is exactly what we needed after a stressful year so far.

However, we did manage to squeeze in some exploration and culture while we were on the island and I can’t wait to share a couple of posts on the blog in the coming weeks. But if you can’t wait then hop over my Instagram where I’m slowly sharing all my photographs.

Before we went away I decided that I was going to have an Internet detox (i.e. Not switch on my WiFi for a week), but I only last 4 days before I switched it back on to check my emails (which was a waste of time). But then my WiFi stayed off most of the time and I really did enjoy having a break from social media. Especially when it’s just been full of people moaning about the EU referendum and spoiling Orange Is The New Black for others.

Yeah, I missed a lot of drama when I was away…

This weekend I intend on catching up on sleeping, housework and my favourite blogs. If you take housework out of the equation then it’s not a bad weekend!

Enjoy your weekend!

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. I’m glad you had a relaxing holiday despite the food poisoning! I hope you’re feeling better now x

  2. Jamie

OH no, I’m sorry to hear that you happened to get food poisoning on your vacation! I hope you’re doing better now?

One day, Tristan and I will be able to travel and I hope that you and I will be able to meet when it happens.

It seems as though Tristan and I are out on the loop of traveling. Though, I guess this is what happens when you’re in college and focusing primarily on that? However, when I was younger, I did get to go sight seeing in California and I’ve also got to travel to San Francisco (my first plane ride) with my high school’s choir. I don’t know, I guess the traveling bug hasn’t hit me even though I know of a few places and countries I would definitely like to visit.

      Yes, that would be lovely!

Yeah, travel is so expensive. Now I’m working full-time I can afford it, but I just don’t have the time anymore!

  3. Welcome back from your vacation, Holly! That transition from vacation to work is always hard, but glad to hear that you settled in quick :). I’m sorry to hear that you had food poisoning during the trip- at least it didn’t last long.

Going through an internet detox is great. You get to enjoy life and notice things that aren’t usually noticed. I gotta go through one of those some day!

    Enjoy your weekend πŸ™‚

  4. It’s a shame about the food poisoning, it’s good you didn’t let it ruin your memories of the holiday. Internet detox during the referendum was the best idea. xx

  5. Welcome back Holly!

I’m sorry again about the food poisoning, I hope they sorted you out somehow. I would be really annoyed but like you, wouldn’t let it ruin the awesome time you had!

I like the idea of internet detoxing – I’m planning to do that for my holiday at the end of the month to Spain but being a social media freak, I’m not too sure if that will go to plan (I have an obsession of getting emails xD) My holiday is going to be the same – we’re dedicating 2 days to sight seeing out of 7 and mostly just relaxing as much as we can – definitely needed after a stressful year.

    Have a wonderful weekend! πŸ˜€

Thanks! The holiday company are so bloody slow at responding but I’m determined to get my medical costs back.

I hope you have a lovely time in Spain!

  6. I know what you mean about a relaxing holiday compared to a sightseeing one! I feel like I need one after our trip. πŸ˜›
