The Weekend Blog | Bank Holiday Weekends
29th May 2016
I’d like to start this post by saying a massive thank you to everyone who read, shared and left comments on the two posts I published this week, especially Thursday’s post called “You don’t look disabled“.
I think some people found it quite shocking that in this day and age people still make inconsiderate comments to disabled people. However a lot of people said that they could relate saying that they had been in similar situations, and in a way it was good to know that I’m not alone. But in another way it made me angry to hear of just how frequently this happens.
So yes, thank you. It’s a post I’d been wanting to share for a while but it was an incident last week pushed me over the edge and made me decide to hit publish.
This week has been a lot better than last week. It was lovely to go back to work after my week away working. It made me really appreciate the people I work with and the environment I work in.
As I mentioned in last weekends Weekend Blog I passed my theory test and so I decide to talk to my instructor about booking my practical. He said I would be ready by August. I absolutely love this optimism! My goal was to pass by the end of the year so I could drive home for Christmas, so this is promising.
It’s Bank holiday weekend here in the UK so I decided to come back to Shropshire as I haven’t been home since Easter.
Yesterday my parents and I went down south to the Shropshire Hills for a picnic (see top photo). In the town of Church Stretton there is an amazing antiques shop, so before we walked into the hills we spent some time browsing the shop and its incredible collection of vinyl records. I managed to pick up Face Dances by The Who.
In the evening I went out for a meal with my friends. Nothing beats sitting in a beer garden in the sun while I eating some proper pub grub.
Today we are just having a lazy day at home and we are having a barbecue this afternoon. Then I’ll head back to Liverpool tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
