Caravelle Watch

What a week!

I went to the doctors on Monday and my GP has convinced me to have steroid injections in my hip because I am suffering so much now. I’m going in to have an injection on Tuesday, and while I am dreading it I am also excited to see if it will work. It could be life changing if it does.

On Wednesday I went to Birmingham to meet up with my friend Becky and to attend a postgraduate fair. I’d had to cancel on her when she arranged to visit a week after my birthday due to hip problems, and so she gave me my birthday presents that day. She gave me a beautiful storage box covered in maps, and inside was a jar of Nutella with my name on it and the gorgeous watch in the photo above.

(Yes. Yes I do have the hairiest arms you’ve ever seen on a woman. It’s good insulation in the winter.)

Anyway, the postgraduate fair was pretty interesting and has certainly made me think more about studying for a masters, however funding is such an issue and so I might wait until I’m in a better situation financially.

When I got back to Liverpool on Wednesday I realised that our toilet had been leaking quite badly. We had to turn the water off and wait until the morning to call the letting agency. It was 8.30pm before the plumber called, at which point I had almost lost all hope and was preparing myself for another waterless day. Fortunately it was a small problem to fix and all was well again in the flat.

Friday I conducted another interview with a business at Albert Dock. This one was my favourite because the manager took me to Costa to conduct the interview and bought me a coffee. I’m hoping I have enough data now because I’m running out of time and also because my hip isn’t coping walking to the docks so often.

On Friday afternoon I caught the train home to Shropshire with Tyrone, and we are heading back later this afternoon. Yesterday I went bridesmaid dress shopping for my cousin’s wedding with her other two bridesmaids. We’ve found and bought the most beautiful dresses, but it’s all a secret until the wedding in August, so come back to see the photos then! After a successful shopping session we went for cocktails, and then later on in the evening I went out for food with my parents and friends.

I’m going back to Liverpool for a rest!

This coming Friday I am suppose to be going to see Phoenix Nights Live in Manchester. I say “suppose to be” because one of the main characters collapsed during last nights performance and is still in hospital. I really hope the show will still be on when I go on Friday. Get well soon Ted Robbins!

Wow, that sounds like an eventful week. I hope everything goes well on Tuesday and that it works for you.

I saw the nutella jar on your Instagram and I thought it was so cool. The watch looks really nice to.

I hope you get to go see the show.

Hope all goes well tomorrow and that it will help. My mother has arthritis and has received steroid shots several times, mostly in her knees but also in her hip, I think. It’s always made a huge difference for her.

Thank you! I’m so glad to hear it worked for your mother. It’s always good to here positive things about a treatment. ๐Ÿ™‚

What kind of interview is this exactly? I hope it goes well! What do you mean by enough data. Is that a phrase for credential? Or actual data to be submitted to an upper management?

I hope the injection works later today [in your time]! It’s still Monday here in the US. Or wait, is it 11pm right now? Last time I checked, there’s a 6-hour difference between UK and Central US.

It’s an interview for my final year research project at university. I’m collecting data on how businesses operate sustainably in relation to tourism. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s 23.15 here right now. ๐Ÿ˜› Thank you!

  4. That watch is lovely! Good luck with the hip injections (I think they’re today?), I hope they help you.
Glad your leak got sorted! Ours is getting worse and I’m not sure when the plumber will be here. I wouldn’t mind if I was on the ground floor, but it’s leaking into other people’s flats and that upsets me.
Bridesmaid dress shopping sounds the best kind of shopping! I bet the dresses are lovely!
Enjoy Phoenix Nights! I think I read he’s up in hospital and well again (well, as well as you can be!) which is good news!

    • Holly

      Thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, I’ve heard he’s on the mend. I’m curious about who is going to replace him. I’m excited for the surprise.

I really hope the plumber turns up soon for you!

  5. Wow! A very busy week, I hope your hip is ok and that you get to see the show! x

I hope the injections go well and will work! I also love the watch that your friend got you. Itโ€™s beautiful ๐Ÿ˜€

Aahh, I hate plumbing issues. We had been dealing with some related to our kitchen sink, and itโ€™s a pain. Iโ€™m glad the plumber eventually showed up and fixed it though!

Thatโ€™s nice of the manager at Albert Dock to treat you to coffee. Thatโ€™s great that the businesses are open to being interviewed ๐Ÿ™‚

Canโ€™t wait to see the bridesmaid dress later, and I hope youโ€™ll be able to see the show!

    • Holly

      Thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Some of the businesses were really open, while others have been such a nightmare, ignoring my emails and or replying to one saying they would do the interviews and then not responding again afterwards.

At least it will give me something to talk about with my supervisor in my final meeting. ๐Ÿ˜›
