The Weekend Blog
12th October 2014
I had a week off from university this week. Why? Because the rest of my course have been in Greece.
As much as I would have loved to have visited Crete and Santorini, I was realistic about the whole situation and chose not to go on medical grounds. My hip would have undoubtedly started to cause problems for me, and I’m not the only who this affects. It impacts on my lectures and my friends, and it’s just not fair.
I was planning on using this week to work on the literature review for my dissertation/research project, as well as filling out the ethical forms for my data collection. Unfortunately, I still have the cold that started at the end of last week and so my work pace was slow.
Being ill and stuck in rainy cold Liverpool while my friends were off in sunny Greece was not good for morale. I got pretty low this week, but I’m bouncing back and trying to look at life in a more positive way.
Yes, writing my literature review is tough but why worry over it? My lowest module mark gets dropped this year, and if it happens to be my research project then so be it. As long as I pass it I will still graduate with honours. There is no point me wasting too much time on it and not leaving enough time for other modules as that will affect my whole overall grade. It’s all about finding a balance.
In other news, this weekend I sold another pair of my comic book shoes via Etsy.com. I sold the very first pair I made, and when I looked at the address I found that the person who had ordered them lived literally a couple of roads away from flat. So I messaged her saying it would take me longer to walk to the post office than to meet her outside her flat to deliver them by hand. Plus, she could have them the very same day. It’s a small world.
Hopefully next week I will back to full health and my productivity levels will be back to normal again.
