Small town hero

In England, Royal Mail, who deliver the post, are useless. On a good day they don’t deliver your mail until 3pm, and your post is normally 2 weeks late so you don’t care when what ever your expecting does arrive anyway.

Today was my chance to have a lie in. I was suppose to have one yesterday but I got a call from work asking if I could come in early to cover someone’s shift. Put it this way, I am never ever answering my phone again. Back to the story at hand, I was trying to have a lie in but I was woken at 8am by the postman trying to deliver a parcel.

I didn’t realise it was the postman because obviously I don’t expect them so early, so I rolled over and went back to sleep. He was only trying to deliver something my dad had ordered for the shower. When I finally decided to get up I found that a letter had been delivered for me. It was from university and it had my final grades for the year in.

I passed my first year of university with a 1st in four of the modules and a 2:1 in one of the modules!! I’m pretty sure that overall this means I have achieved a 1st in my first year of uni. Whey! I couldn’t be happier.

Last Tuesday Tyrone met me from work and after a quick changes of clothes we went out to our local Indian restaurant. We must be becoming regulars in there now because we get free drinks after our meal. πŸ˜› We were the only customers in there that night (it was a really hot day) so the waiters were glad to see us. They even made Tyrone a special dish which was made to his level of spice. I’m pretty boring when it comes to spicy food so I normally order something creamy and mild like a korma or a tikka masala.

On Wednesday I went to the doctors to get some more acne cream. He ended up prescribing me some really expensive cream to treat it as well as some antibiotics. I can’t actually take the antibiotics as they don’t go well with some other medication I am on. You probably can’t tell from any pictures of me that I actually have horrendous acne that has spread on to my shoulders, but that’s because I have good make-up. Oh, and Photoshop is always handy. It really gets me down as I have been suffering with it for so long. If anyone has any natural remedies or tips for getting rid of it I would love you forever haha!

I’ve been busy work, as usual, but I got paid a few weeks ago. Having money to spend they I have earned myself feels so good. My mum took me shopping so that I could treat myself to some new clothes. Here are some photos to keep you occupied.

This dress if from Top Shop and I absolutely adore it. It fits me perfectly and looks great with or without leggings.

Both the jumper and trousers are from H&M. These two pictures were taken on the same day when there was way too much light coming in my room, even with the curtains closed. I chopped my head off on these pictures because I had just finished work and my make-up made my face look like it had melted. You can see my sexy (joke) work uniform on the left.

Both the top and trousers are also from H&M. I took this picture a few days a go when my make-up actually looked presentable. I actually dyed my hair the other day. It’s suppose to be golden honey but I don’t think you can tell much difference really. It does look lighter in the top two pictures.

I also bought some shoes. They are kind of like fake Toms but a lot cheaper than (Β£7.99!). I love the style but I would never pay for real Toms as I think they are a little overpriced. I suppose you could say that about Converse but at least they are super comfortable (Toms rub like hell, especially when you have narrow feet like me) and they last for years and years.

I also ordered one of the books on my reading list for my second year of uni. You are probably thinking it looks a little boring. I have to agree. It’s an interesting topic but this book just makes it seem boring.

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

    Congrats on your final grades!

I like becoming regulars at restaurants. Servers are always nicer when they recognize you, and sometimes you get perks like free things πŸ™‚

I’ve been suffering with acne for a long time too! It’s on and off for me, but I hate that I still have this problem at my age. My brother took medicine that helped a lot, and I’ve just been trying different face washes.

I love all of the clothing you got! My favorite is the dress in the first photo. It’s a great pattern and style πŸ™‚ I think the last one with flowers is cute too!

    • Thank you. πŸ˜€

Currently I am trying the spot cream prescriped by my doctor, a new face wash and a blemish stick. Nothing is working yet. πŸ™

    Congratulations on your grades!
I’ve just finished my final year so I’m waiting to hear back on my overall degree grade and I’m bricking it! :S

I’ve always suffered with acne, but the thing that seems to work for me is a combination of Dianette (the pill) and antibiotics, plus making sure to use a good facewash to get all of my make up off, but I guess those medications aren’t an option for you?

Love the clothes! My favourites are the top and trousers from H&M πŸ™‚ where are the shoes from? They’re really cute and I do like the price πŸ˜‰ haha!

    • Thank you. πŸ™‚ I’m sure you will have done well!

Unfortunately the acne medication I have been given by my doctor will cause another type of medication I am taking to become less effective. πŸ™ I’ve recently starting using face wash for my acne but so far nothing seems to have changed. I guess I just need to wait.

The shoes are from ShoeZone. πŸ™‚

The Royal Mail sounds a lot like Canada Post. I remember one time my grandmother sent a birthday present to me (around my 6th or 7th b-day) and guess when I got it? When I was 15. It took like 9 or 10 years! I’m sure that’s not the norm… but it sticks in my head.

One of the best ways to get rid of acne is to find what triggers it. This is usually food (like pop) but it could also be make-up, hair styling products, etc, or something else. Look at the stuff you use everyday and ask a specialist what stuff to avoid or what ingredients are the worst, then try removing one thing from your diet or beauty regime at a time. Don’t replace it with something similar. So for instance stop drinking all pop (or foundation, or blush, etc) for a week and see if that might help. Even clearing up a little in this time may mean finding something you are sensitive too. Keep a diary.

I know it seems like a lot of work but your skin is worth it! I’ve had bad acne in the past, so has my little brother and my best friend is a nutritionist and she told me that nutrition can play a huge role in the formation of acne. Good luck!

    • Seriously? Fortunately, I don’t think Royal Mail is quite that bad, haha!

I was once told that dairy products caused acne so I gave up drinking milk. I refused to give up cheese though. My life would be incomplete without it. πŸ˜› I don’t actually drink a lot of pop so it can’t be that. I’m such a food lover that giving up any type of food would be difficult (aren’t a pain in the arse haha).

I wish I didn’t have to wear make up but I have to because I work in customer service and my spots look so red that I have to cover them to look presentable. :/

Royal Mail seems like a huge pain. Our postal service, USPS, is considering stopping deliveries on Saturdays, which means that we’ll only be receiving mail items on business days if that sort of “law” thing passes. The mail persons only come at any and all times of the day randomly, so we can never actually predict anything.

Could you be allergic to anything? I recently went allergy-free food-wise, and I have been receiving allergy shots for my airborne allergies. A lot of doctors don’t believe allergies are real because there’s not much research in it, but allergies are real, and sometimes they’re the problem. I had major acne until I literally just started to let hot water from the shower head run over my face. However, I don’t wear make up… I’m allergic to it. It always made me break out. So, really, my remedy may only work without make up.

    The outfits are cute!

    • I have never been diagnosed with any allergies to my knowledge.

I will have to give the shower idea a go. I have to wear make up because my spots are so red that they look disgusting and I have to work with customers everyday so I don’t want to look untidy. Personally I don’t enjoy wearing make up. I only wear as much as a I need and if I have a day at home when I’m not going out then I don’t apply it.
