Not so sweet dreams

21st May 2012

On Saturday I went shopping with my mum. My dad was at my brother’s house helping him to fit his new kitchen, so my mum and I decided to have a nice girly day together. My mum treated me to some new clothes. I was so grateful as I have tried my hardest recently not to go shopping. I don’t have much money now that I don’t have a job, so I’ve tried to avoid spending what I do have. I managed three months without going clothes shopping. I call that impressive! πŸ˜›

I got a blue dress for the summer and a cardigan to go with it. I also got a vest and a play suit. I have wanted a play suit for quite a while now. I saw some nice ones when I was in Portugal last year but they weren’t cheap and I was convinced I wouldn’t wear it that much. Anyway, I found a really pretty one in H&M for a reasonable price. I paid for that one myself. I can’t expect my mum to buy everything.

After shopping my mum took me for lunch in Starbucks. She knows how much I love it there. My mum had a latte, I had a chocolate creme frappuccino and we had cheese and steak sandwiches to eat.

On Saturday night I had a horrible dream (more like a nightmare) in which I went to visit my student accommodation and it was nothing but a 16 storey wooden structure where you had to climb the frame to get to your room. It was terrifying and I was convinced I was going to fall off the side and die. I didn’t think I was scared of heights but that dream has proved me wrong. :S

The reason why I had this nightmare is because before I went to sleep I was stressing about student finance for university. I have less than 2 weeks to get it all sorted, but the website doesn’t seem to want to let me apply. I called the head office and asked for them to send me the forms, which they haven’t done, so I have had to print them off myself. All 40 pages! We’ve filled them in and they have been sent. All I can do now is wait. If they don’t get it sorted in time, it’s their fault not mine. I asked for help and they failed to give it to me.

I suppose it’s out of my hands now.

Today I had a mock ICT exam. What a joke! We had around 35 minutes less than we should have done for a real paper and one of the questions was related to a topic on the Computing AS course. Not the ICT course. Computing and ICT are actually two very different subjects so how are we suppose to know the answer? If that was the real exam, I would have been so frustrated!

My first exam is about three weeks away and before that I have a biology mock exam, and possibly a geography one. I’m not sure how I’m going to get all my revision complete within such a short space of time. I’ve been working on it for weeks but it’s so difficult balancing my time between three very demanding subjects.

Roll on next year when I only have one subject! πŸ˜€

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

I love the new design! It looks great and it is original. 8)
Wow, I always end up getting things when I say I won’t. Then when I need new clothes I can’t find anything. Lucky you were to have your mom with you πŸ™‚
I actually have two jumpsuits and I love them. They are really comfortable and easy to throw on. It’s not that much fun wearing them to a festival however. Imagine taking the whole thing of every time you have to use those fancy boxes they call “the ladies room”.

I read about the dream on twitter, haha. I actually had a really weird dream this night. But I can’t remember what it was about :/

I hate when schools are bad at giving out information and helping. My school is honestly helpless when it comes to that kind of thing. We get information we should have known about for weeks five minutes before a big event or a changes in the schedule. I also asked our teacher who I should go for with some problems I had about logging onto the schools website. She told me to go to the councilor, who told me to go to the tech guy who told me to go to my math teacher. I still can’t log in because my math teacher couldn’t help me. Frustrating stuff. But I hope you get your student finance (/loan?).

I hate when that happens. It happen with us once, we had the same kind of task for our “big test” every semester for 2 1/2 years and then they go on and change the whole system 1/2 before we would be taking our exam.
I only had one exam this year and it was today. “Spanish, writing” (we have writing and oral as two different kinds of exams). It was really easy and I’m so glad to be done. The only thing I found kind of funny was that most of it was on Big Brother and then some other reality shows. I felt like laughing while everyone else around me looked like they wanted to cry. I ended up writing a text about how I was going to join the Jersey Shore. I think I did something wrong by having fun taking the exam. Thank good for my Spanish family πŸ˜€

Good luck on yours Biology is interesting, but the classes, sitting there listening to the teacher is soooo boring! Know how you feel about the demanding subjects. Sucks that they put a lot of pressure on us to do so much in every subject at the same time.

  2. You have managed to not go shopping for 3 months? I bet I’ve broken that record… I just happened to clean up my wardrobe the other day and I was shocked to see that I’ve been wearing those same old few good tops that I have for almost 6 months now… I didn’t buy any thing meant for casual wear my whole last semester! I’m myself astounded! Mum took me shopping last month along with my sister and my sister ended up buying 8 clothes and me, just a shirt! ha!

Holly, ICT means Information Communication Technology? if that’s that then hell ya computing and ICT are to ends!! I’m majoring in computer science which is what actual computing is, right??

my email id was wrong in the previous comment! I wondered why my gravatar wasn’t showing!

  4. Oh cool and how fun! Clothes shopping is something I rarely do but I always, always enjoy it.
I know what you mean about doing all you can do and just having to wait. Whenever I deal with college or job interviews I try to press as hard as I can to get everything straightened out on my end so that if there is a problem it is their fault. I mean, they are the ones who are at home in that office and they can fix their problems. So I have no problem trying to keep the buck on them. πŸ™‚
I’ve never heard of mock exams. That sounds like a nice gesture to help students with testing environment. Once I had a similar problem on a quiz where they asked a question that was not in my reading material and I knew it wasn’t there because I basically memorize my readings. I got so frustrated that I melted and burnt out right there. But it was online class so my mom was the only one that heard my groans of death. πŸ˜€
