Jamie’s Italian Liverpool (review)

Jamie's Italian Liverpool - Menu

This is a collaboration post.

All the best food is Italian, right? Pizza, pasta, ice-cream, etc. Liverpool has a whole host of Italian restaurants, and Tyrone and I are slowly working our way though as many as possible.

We had not yet tried Jamie’s Italian in Liverpool so the invitation to pop along and try out their food was very much welcome. It also gave us the perfect opportunity to celebrate being accepted to rent our new house.

Jamie's Italian Liverpool - Beer

The restaurant is located in the heart of Liverpool, just opposite John Lewis. We popped along on Monday evening after work and started with a couple of bottles of their own lager called Libertá. It reminded me of my favourite Portuguese beer (Sagres) so I was pretty pleased with my choice.

Jamie's Italian Liverpool - Porcini Arancini

For my starter I have Porcini Arancini which are fried balls of mushroom risotto, served with a cheese fondue for dipping. Honestly I wish you could order this dish as a main because it was so good!

Jamie's Italian Liverpool - Italian Nachos

Tyrone opted for the Italian Nachos which were fried ravioli, filled with mozzarella, served with a spicy tomato sauce, and I have to admit, it looked amazing. Ty thoroughly enjoyed it as a fellow lover of cheese and said it was a really nice alternative Italian dish. He also wished that this was a main meal opinion! We clearly love our cheese and carbs.

Both of our starters with vegetarian, and I have to say there was a pretty good choice for veggies which kept Tyrone happy.

Jamie's Italian Liverpool - Squid and Mussel Spaghetti Nero

For my main meal I decided to be brave as I chose the Squid and Mussel Spaghetti Nero. Mussels are my favourite type of seafood, but I always get a little freaked out my squid because of the way it looks. However, I know that squid tastes amazing if it is cooked properly, so I gave it a go. I’m really glad I stepped out of my comfort zone as it was delicious. The level of spicy was just right too.

Don’t be fooled my the spaghetti which is coloured using squid ink. It may not look so photogenic but it has a really nice flavour to it.

Jamie's Italian Liverpool - Veggie Burger

Tyrone ordered the Veggie Burger which he said really tasty but the coleslaw was a little over powering as it had a fruity taste to it. He liked the opinion to have chilli chips but wasn’t too keen on the skinny french-fries style.

Jamie's Italian Liverpool - Molten Chocolate Praline Pudding

I have to admit, we were pretty stuffed at this point, but the dessert menu was just too inviting and we felt like we had to try the Molten Chocolate Praline Pudding. Have you ever had the praline seashell chocolate by Guylian (or even Aldi if you are after a bargain)? Well, it tasted just like them!

This dessert was served with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream which complemented the pudding perfectly. I kind of wish the portion was larger but that’s just because I’m greedy and it tasted so good.

Overall we had a lovely relaxed evening and it was really nice to be able to try lots of new dishes. In fact, I believe Tyrone is going to try and recreate the Italian Nachos starter at home! I think the prices were very reasonable, especially for the portion sizes.

So if you are in the city centre and you fancy some quirky Italian food then I do recommend you stop by.

I was invited to try out Jamie’s Italian Liverpool in return for this review. As always, all opinions are my own.

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. The burger looks delicious. I’m not a fan of french-fries either, but I would still order it. It looks like you a had a lovely night out and with such a big thing to celebrate it must have been extra special. xx

  2. I love Italian, so this all looks delicious! I’m not a big fan of seafood, so you were brave to try that dish, haha. It sounds like you guys had a nice evening and what a great way to relax after the stress of everything that’s been going on. Congrats on being accepted for your house, btw! You guys deserve it and I hope the move goes smoothly!

We call the fried ravioli here toasted ravioli. It’s one of St. Louis’ signature dishes, actually! We have an Italian district here and all of the restaurants serve it, as well as a lot of our pizza restaurants! We dip it in marinara sauce and it’s one of my favorite junk foods! I prefer the ones stuffed with beef over the cheese, but both are great! I’m glad Tyrone liked it!
