I am the sea

23rd July 2013

I flew home from my holiday in Portugal on Friday. I had a fantastic time with Tyrone. It was our first holiday abroad together and it has made me more excited for travelling adventures together in the future.

It was a pretty lazy holiday. I showed Tyrone around the town where we stay and that was about it for exploring. It’s a bit too hot in the summer to do anything there except relaxing on the beach. One day we decided to go on a boat trip around the coast line.

I knew how beautiful it was and I knew it would be the perfect opportunity for Ty to take some amazing pictures. We went with a local fisherman on his little boat. It was a little bit more expensive than going with the big companies that operate in the marina but it was worth it because we were the only ones on the boat, rather than having to share it with 10 other people. It was very romantic!

We also visited Cape St. Vincent which is suppose to be the most south westerly point in Europe. I’ve been before to watch the sun set and it was incredible. I wanted to show Tyrone but unfortunately that night it was cloudy which kind of ruined it. Still, we managed to take a few photos. Ty got some great ones of me that I will have to steal from him. πŸ˜› (Note: our hair looks messy because it is incredibly windy at the end of Europe!)

Just like missing the sun set at Cape St. Vincent, a few things didn’t go to plan on holiday. I got terribly sun burnt on the back of one of my legs. Just the one. I couldn’t walk for a day and now the skin is peeling everywhere. It looks stupid! I also sat on my Kindle and snapped the screen. I didn’t even put much weight on it. I ended up ordering a new one when I got home on Friday and it arrived yesterday. This one feels pretty cheap but looks nicer than my old one. Let’s just hope I don’t sit on this one!

So what am I up to these days? Well, I quit my job so I’m now enjoying having some time to myself. As soon as I’d finished uni I was working so it never felt like I had a break. I’m loving this freedom.

I’ve actually been quite busy. The week before I went to Portugal I was out with my friends and family everyday. I met up with my friend Leander a few times. We went out for lunch and we went record shopping. I managed to get Quadrophenia for Β£1.99. The vinyl is in good condition but the folder is pretty tatty, but for less than Β£2 I can’t complain. I also went strawberry picking with my friend Becky. So much for getting bored once I finished my job.

I’ve been busy sorting out my bedroom too. I wanted to get rid of some of the pointless rubbish that has been cluttering my bedroom ready for when I move out. I don’t want to take a load of junk with me to Liverpool. I’ve only cleared out under my bed and already I have accumulated 5 bin bags full of rubbish! I honestly don’t know where it all came from!

On top of all this, Ty and I are making regular trips to Liverpool to go flat hunting. It’s a tedious process. I just want to find somewhere so badly. Uglyfish is also flat hunting in Liverpool and I feel her pain. I never thought it would be this difficult!

Congrats to Tyrone who received his unconditional offer to LJMU which makes him an official student! Whey! No more waiting around to find out if he has got in, even though with his grades they’d be stupid not to except him. I’m getting all excited for September now. πŸ˜€

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

I’m glad you guys had a great trip together! That’s awesome that you’re able to go with a local fisherman. It sounds nice to be the only other ones on the boat πŸ™‚ The place looks beautiful!

That sucks about the sunburn and your Kindle though. I didn’t realize they snapped so easily! I’ve been paranoid that I’ll accidentally break my iPad mini somehow, knowing how clumsy I am.

Sounds like you’ve had a lot going on lately too! My house has gotten cluttered as well, and I really need to do something about it. Every time I clean up, I’m amazed at how much junk I’ve kept around.

I think I saw on your Twitter that you found a flat? Congrats! I hope moving in goes well!

    • I’ve been reading about Kindles snapping and apparently the heat can make the screen weaker. I was sitting outside in the sun at the time. :/ I bought a case for my new Kindle yesterday. I’m hoping it will give it a little more protection.

Yeah, I actually managed to get a flat yesterday! Thank you. πŸ˜€ I’ll be posting some pictures that we took soon. Now I’ve got to sort out all the paper work.

It looks like you both had a nice time! I’ve never been to Portugal, but my grandparents have and they really enjoyed it. πŸ™‚ I really like your photographs, too, it makes me want to go on holiday, and the fact it’s summer just echoes that!

It’s unfortunate about your kindle. I don’t have one but I’m really paranoid when it comes to my phone and my iPod touch, they never leave the house without a gel case on. I wish I had the money to just replace things like that – my phone would be re housed and I’d have so many replacement cases! πŸ˜‰

Reading the comments above, I also remember seeing that you’d found a flat on twitter! I’m from Liverpool and I really love living here – I’m not from the city centre, but I do like going there! I do hope to one day go to LJMU or the University of Liverpool, or at least go somewhere that’s accessible by train from Liverpool, as I don’t really want to have to leave when I go to uni. :/

I’d just like to apologize for not replying to your comment that you left on my blog. If I remember correctly, it was the post about Mrs. Brown’s Boys? I can’t remember what you said, as I’ve moved my blog and I lost all of the disqus comments, but thanks for commenting anyway! I got pretty distracted so I forgot about my blog, but now I’ve moved and I have better access that shouldn’t really be a problem! B)

I’ve not heard of Quadrophenia, but I do know that my dad loves vinyl and he’s constantly going on about how I should buy vinyl rather than download music or buy cds – the only problem is I only use my iPod for music, although I know you can rip records onto computers somehow. Also, you could probably get a new cover from somewhere – although I don’t suppose it matters as it’s the vinyl that’s the most important thing! πŸ˜‰

    • I bought a new case for my Kindle because I’m so paranoid about breaking my new one. I shouldn’t own valuable things!

Liverpool is a fantastic city and that’s why I’m so desperate to move back. I can see why you love living there and why you don’t want to move away. It’s like an addiction!

I think it was about Mrs Brown’s Boys. No worries, I’ll take a look at your new blog soon. πŸ™‚

I still own an iPod and most of my music is in digital format but vinyl records are just great to listen to because they sound so old. The majority of records I have I also own on digital format but when I’m round the house I listed to vinyl. You can rip records to digital format. My record player has a USB connection so you can copy the music on to your computer. Pretty cool!

The pictures are beautiful. Portugal looks like a beautiful place to visit and relax. I’m you both enjoyed yourselves!

I really feel bad for your kindle… you shouldn’t have sat on it! hehe. but I’m glad you found a new one soon.

What do you mean by strawberry picking? Actually going to the fields and all?

I’m glad you have found a nice flat after so much of flat-hunting! And I’m glad that Tyrone is also an official student at LJMU… good for bith of you :D.

I’ve finally blogged again… hehe… after a really long time… do visit. TC

    • Yep, literally going to a field full of strawberry bushes and picking your own strawberries. It works out cheaper than buying them from the supermarket. It’s a very English thing.

Thank you. I can’t wait to move in now!

I will swing by your blog some time soon for a read. πŸ™‚

Ah, you are so lucky who got to travel to Portugal! Hope you had an amazing time (except the kindle incident and getting sun burned!) The only place I went to was the south of Norway for a music festival. It was great though, nice music and some fun people πŸ˜€

My friend just stepped on her kindle and ruined a couple of days before you tweeted about yours. I found that kind of funny, but yeah, rip. Let us hope mine lasts a bit longer, since I smashed the front screen of my iPhone earlier this year..

I have been working all week and have not had that much time for my friends :-/ And good luck finding a flat, or did you already find one? πŸ˜€

    • I dropped my iPhone a few months ago but fortunately it only scratched the corner. I think my screen protector protected it a little.

I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one to have destroyed a kindle haha!

Haha yeah I’ve found a flat. I should really update my blog more often!!
