Healthy Planet Books for Free (Liverpool)

23rd April 2015

Cocktail Book

I found a “shop” in town today and I just had to tell you about it. It’s been there for years but I’ve never noticed it before.

It’s called Healthy Planet Books for Free and, as the name indicates, they are giving away books for free. Hence why I’ve put the term “shop” in quotes.

The basic concept of the shop is to give books away for free to save them from going to landfill. By taking a free book you are preventing waste, and I think that’s a great deal.

Tyrone and I popped in this week while walking through town and had a look at what they had to offer.

I ended up getting this very retro book on making cocktails. It’s from the early 80s and so the photography is pretty funky. I smells old and one of it’s previous owners has wrote their own recipes in there too, which is an extra special touch.

Plus, look at this glass! It’s so damn awesome. If you happen to know where I can get one of these from, please let me know.

You can find Healthy Planet Books for Free on Ranelagh Street in Liverpool, close to the entrance to Central Station. If you are local you probably already know about it, but if you are late to the party like me, do take a look next time you’re in town.

What do you think of this concept?

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. That’s a neat “shop”! I’d totally go there to see what sort of books they offer for free! I think it’s funny you never noticed the shop before, but it’s okay! I’m the same way, especially when the shop exterior has NOTHING to indicate what it is ~_~; I’ve seen many shops doing that lately in Seoul, and it makes no sense to me why you’d not put markings and stuff on the exterior! I’ll only go in a place that tells me what it is.

Anyway, love this book shop’s concept, and I’m glad you shared the book you got with us. That cocktail glass is amazing, and it’s . . . practical! XD

I don’t even think there was a sign on the shop front, just a small poster, but I’m not sure. It was my other half who spotted it.

  2. I had no idea! That’s amazing, I have to stop by to see if I manage for find some hidden gems.
Also, I must agree the glass is awesome πŸ™‚

You’ll have to let me know if you do go and find anything good. πŸ™‚ I’m thinking about donating some of my old books to save them from going to landfill.

  3. Gosh, I’ve never heard of it! I’ll have to take a look! The fact that the previous owner has written their own recipes in is amazing, what a lovely little touch! That glass is awesome, I reckon you’ll find one somewhere!
