Double chocolate chip cookies (& baking goals)

Double chocolate chip cookies

One thing I always tell people is that I am terrible cook, but that I love to bake.

I’m not at a stage where I feel competent enough to create my own recipes, but I know it will come to me some day.

Until then I shall just continue to shareย  with you my favourite tried and tested recipes that I’ve found online or in recipe books.

I recently found the best recipe for double chocolate chip cookies. I even impressed myself with how good these tasted.

The recipe can be found here on the BBC Food website. I can’t recommend this website enough. Pretty much every recipe I have found on here and have used has been a success.

The only alteration I made was that I used white chocolate instead of normal chocolate chips. I actually prefer to take whole chocolate bars and break them into smaller chunks when making cookies. I don’t know, there is just something rustic about it. Plus white chocolate works fantastically well with this recipe.

If you follow the instructions you will notice that after 12 minutes of baking that the cookies are still very soft. Don’t stick them back in the oven! Slide them on to a plate or wire rack to cool and they will harden up in no time.

Enjoy with a glass of milk, of course, and try not to eat them all in one sitting!

Cookies are just one of the items on baking goals list. As I wanted to baked more I decided to create a list of baked goods that I want to make; some that I’ve made before and some that are totally new and challenging to me. This is my list as it stands:

  • Cheesecake
  • Cookies
  • Cupcakes
  • Scones
  • Banana and toffee pie
  • Churros
  • Chocolate bread/loaf
  • Doughnuts
  • Brownies
  • Chocolate log
  • Macarons(!!)

Have you got any cooking/baking goals?

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. Those cookies look good. My baking goals are chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter brownies, and banana bread.

  2. Sam

Those cookies look delicious, I’m definitely going to have to try them out sometime, myself! I love baking, though I try to better my skills in that section, I’m better at cooking than anything.

My goals as far as baking is concerned though: make a better tasting vanilla cake, homemade brownies, macarons, and cheesecake!

  3. Kya

That is so awesome and they look delicious. ๐Ÿ˜€ It is a lot of fun to bake things and it works. I have trouble, in that for some reason I can never get things right. Usually I decide to alter the recipe or get it muddled on the oven time. xD

That is really cool to have a list of things to bake. ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Holly

I’m the same. I always have issues with making cakes in my flat. Personally I think it’s due to the warm temperature in my flat because it never happens when I bake at my parents house. So confusing!

  4. THIS LOOKS SO GOOD hahahaha. I usually buy cookies from the bakery at the local supermarket because they are actually really really good. Yours look just like them. They look so delicious. I canโ€™t remember the last time I baked cookies, I feel like they will be perfect for summer weather coming up.

I am a pretty awful cook. I think baking is a fun and enjoyable activity that everyone has a better chance of getting โ€œrightโ€ ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. mmm, these look delicious! I might give them a try, I’m always looking for a good cookie recipe.

I’d love to be able to make lasagne, but still haven’t gotten around to it.

    • Holly

Lasagne is one of my favourite meals but I’ve never made it myself. I’ll add that to my list of cooking goals. ๐Ÿ˜›

  6. I’m the opposite of you! I’m a terrible baker except I like cooking, haha. Definitely with more practice, you will be at a point where you can create your own recipes :D. You can start by experimenting around :P. The cookie looks extra delicious by being thick :9.

It looks like you have some delicious baking goals to go! Good luck with making macaroons! They’re expensive so it’s better to make them at home D:.

As for me, I think you already saw my cooking goals :P. I want to start making more ~real food~ and not depend on canned stock food.

    • Holly

I’ve never even tried macarons but I really fancy the challenge of making them. I hear that they are really difficult to bake so my skills might not be quite there just yet!

Hm…baking/cooking goals would be to just do it more often. I’m also wanting to learn how to make sushi. Oh, and I need to learn how to make things without following the recipe – or at least my Mom says I need to learn how to do this. :S Personally, I love recipes – I mean, someone took the time to figure out the correct way to do something. Anyhow, best of luck with your cooking goals! ๐Ÿ˜€

Sushi is something that I’ve always wanted to make. I’d particularly like to make vegetarian friendly sushi for my boyfriend as he’s never tried it before.

  8. Sasha

My only banking goal is always to not burn the food. ๐Ÿ˜›
Despite watching many cooking TV shows (Masterchef, Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, etc.), my skills are terrible; I’ve only managed the basics like cooking pasta, cooking meat, frying eggs, etc. I don’t even ask my mum to try, anymore as I’m (and she is) afraid I’ll set fire to the kitchen if I do. xD
