An indoor summer holiday with Jet2holidays

This is a collaboration post.

Due to various unexpected circumstances (mainly moving house) I haven’t been able to hop on a plane and jet off out of the country this year….yet. This may explain the lack of travel posts around here recently.

So the closest I’ve come to a holiday so far this year is a trip to Manchester for a travel themed event with Jet2holidays last weekend.

And I guess it was quite a lot like a little holiday, hence the holiday lingo in this post!

The event was optimistically called #Jet2Sunchester and, perhaps even more optimistically, had a dress code of “summer holidays”. This basically guaranteed the rain!

I arrived at check-in (The Studio, Manchester) with my boarding pass (my invitation and entry for the raffle) and picked up a complimentary glass of champagne and some canapés.

Just like when I’m off on a real holiday I was the first to arrive at check-in. A little too eager I guess. I got chatting to a few other passengers (bloggers) before beginning my journey to the various destinations on offer.

I started in Malta, a country I have always wanted to visit. I picked up a few brochures and got into the party spirit of the island by having my face painted with glitter.

Next stop was Tenerife and a quick visit to the spa for a wonderful back, shoulder and neck massage. I can’t begin to explain how badly I needed that massage. I was so tense in my shoulders and the masseuse kindly gave me some tips for preventing this sort of tenseness in the future.

Before I knew it, cocktail o’clock had rolled around and it was time to pay a visit to Mallorca. The bar was provided by BH Mallorca who have a hotel in Magalluf, and I think I had a Cosmopolitan to drink which was lovely.

I say “I think” because I genuinely can’t remember! I think the summer sun was getting to me at this point!

Also in Mallorca I visited Sol Katmandu; a theme park in Magalluf. They had a few crazy golf courses set up but I decided to give it a miss as the night before the event I had been out to play crazy golf with work and I needed a break!

I spent the remainder of the afternoon chilling on the deck chairs chatting to Anca and Emma before I had to depart back to an equally sunny Liverpool.

I came home with with quite a few souvenirs (in the goodie bag) including a notebook, a portal phone charger, sun cream, lip balm with SPF and a aeroplane shaped biscuit – all the travel essentials!

Have you got any holidays planned for the summer?

I was invited to attend the #Jet2sunchester holiday showcase by Jet2holidays. All opinions are my own.

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. I had to look on the invitation to see the name of the cocktail, because I said I want “one of those”: the cocktail with dry ice 😀 It was a shame it rained and we weren’t able to wear our summer outfits. It was lovely to see you xx

This sounded like such a fun idea! I wish there were more social events like this where I lived. Glad you enjoyed it!

I had tons of plans for summer vacation but we decided to put them on hold and save for an extravagant celebratory trip for my husbands grad school graduation.

It’s a shame there aren’t more events in your area. It’s so nice to be able to meet up with local bloggers.

That sounds like a great idea! We are having a cheap holiday this year so that when Tyrone has finished his degree we can go back to America. 😀

  3. Wow, what an amazing idea for an event!

My only holiday this year is a trip to the Lake District with family. I don’t think I’ll be leaving this country this year.
