A review of 2014 – empfire.info
23rd December 2014
2014 was the year I started taking blogging seriously. No more using my blog as an outlet for my anger against the world, and no more posting and then disappearing for a month.
I’ve learnt a lot this year. I know what works and what doesn’t work. I also know that I have to do what I enjoy, because it wouldn’t be fun if I was just doing this to benefit others.
It’s been a great year, so let’s take a look back at what I got up to here at empfire.info.
Blogging every other day this summer
I thought I was crazy thinking I could blog every other day this summer. Despite this I did pretty well, and you can see my archive for evidence. It was tough, but having a lot of free time on my hands, thanks to a super flexible part-time job, made it easier. It was also fun, and it helped to show me the topics that I enjoy talking about the most here on the blog.
My 1st blogger event
I attended my very first blogger event this year. Rather than mithering companies to death I sat down and waited patiently for my first invite. It was worth the wait as I was invited to a photography workshop with Joe’s Blog. I had a fantastic day, but the highlight was definitely meeting other bloggers.
My favourite posts
I produced some posts this year that I was super proud of. At the time of posting I did think anything of them but the responses I got were fantastic. I loved getting people involved with my post on Facebook Pet Peeves, and hearing your responses to my thoughts on product reviews and returning comments. Some of my most popular posts included my Big Spoon Little Spoon pillow tutorial (so popular it got stolen) and my tips on being a super organised student.
Blog in the Spotlight
I started a feature on empfire.info called “Blog in the Spotlight” in which I highlighted one of my favourite blogs each month. You can see all of the featured blogs here. Admittedly, the last couple of months I haven’t featured a blog because I just haven’t had the time to do much blog reading thanks to university work, but I promise to get back to it in January.
Who know! That’s part of the excitement!
I have a few ideas up my sleeve, but one thing that is a guarantee is a new layout ready for the new year.
Was there anything you particularly enjoyed about empfire.info in 2014?
