What I wore in Lanzarote

What I wore in Lanzarote

This is my first ever fashion/outfit post so please be kind! I was really proud of the outfits I put together for this holiday, and I felt so confident in them, so why the hell not share them on my blog?!

I’m going to share four different outfits with you that I wore on my holiday. Please excuse the all inclusive wrist band as well as the awkward poses and smiles. This doesn’t come naturally to me!

The first two outfits are very similar. They both comprise of a crop top and a pair of baggy, high waisted shorts, all from H&M.

For me, crop tops have always seemed quite daunting, but once you pair them with something high waisted on the bottom half then they don’t actually flash too much skin.

These tops (£3.99 each) have a really nice shape to them, and certainly keep you cool on a hot summers day. The baggy shorts (£7.99 each) also kept me nice and cool, and were much more practical to wear on Lanzarote than skirts and dresses because there is quite a strong breeze there; especially up in the mountains. And you know, you don’t want to go flashing your knickers.

If you are wondering why the shorts are sitting wonky on my hips, don’t worry, it’s not the shorts. It’s just the shape of my hips because of my hip dysplasia, and this is one of the reasons why I stopped wearing shorts for many years. But now I’m embracing my shape!

To create another outfit, I teamed up my white crop top with these high waisted light weight patterned trousers, also from H&M (£12.99). These trousers are so comfortable! I ended up wearing this outfit on the flight home, but I think it’s perfect for a summers day in the UK or even on a night out.

My final outfit features this play suit which I bought from Pull & Bear (I think it’s around £30) the same day as I passed my theory test.

There’s so much I love about this piece. First up, it’s fully lined, and because of the shape of the bust area you don’t need to wear bra underneath, and that’s a major thumbs up in my eyes! I also like the fact it looks like a two piece from the back, and that the straps are adjustable. It’s just such a comfortable, effortless outfit to wear.

In all of these photos I’m also wearing my New Look sandals which I bought last year and of course my trusty pairs of Ray Ban sunglasses…

…yes I said “pairs”…

…you know what that means…

…I bought another pair!

What I wore in Lanzarote

I picked up another pair of the classic wayfarers from the airport as they were VAT free and therefore slightly cheaper than usual. I’ve been wanting the tortoise shell style for a while now, but I hadn’t seen them any shops to try on. I’m really glad I didn’t order them online because I was going to buy the dark tortoise shell glasses but in person they were much darker than I was expecting. So I bought the light ones and I love them! I feel like they really compliment my hair colour.

I hope you enjoyed this post. As I say it’s something a little bit different for me but I thought I’d give it ago. Many thanks to Tyrone for taking these photos. You are a saint!

What’s your perfect summer outfit?

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. Woo I love your outfits! I think mostly because it is vastly different from my style and it is always interesting seeing what people wear even if it isn’t something I would wear myself.

I was not a big fan of high-waisted shorts or pants but I have warmed up to them a little. They are pretty comfortable. I just don’t think they work with my short height – the same goes for wearing shorts in general. But you really rock the baggy shorts. I see girls with tight, very short shorts all the time, and I like seeing girls wear the ones with a more ‘appropriate’ length, and usually high-waisted as well. 🙂 Again something that I probably wouldn’t wear but that I love seeing other people wear!

I’ve never owned a playsuit/jumpsuit or a romper but my friend let me try on one of hers, which just looked horrid on me hahaha. I have pretty big thighs for my height, so it just accentuated them.

I love the Ray Ban sunglasses! Nick has the same ones in black. I tried them on and I think they are too big for me. I heard Ray Ban makes smaller sized sunglasses but I tried them on and they are still too big for my face, or the shapes don’t really work with my face shape.

I like brown or tortoiseshell sunglasses though, much more interesting than a pretty standard black.

I realise I don’t own a single pair of sandals. xD I had a hard time finding a pair I liked. I think I will go looking again in the summer (Australian summer haha).

      Thank you. 🙂

I like slightly longer shorts. I always cringe when I see girls wearing shorts that cover their bums! To be honest the playsuit is pretty short but not so short is shows off everything!

I know that the wayfarer style comes in two sizes. I always go for the smaller ones because big sunglasses don’t suit me. What I also like about the tortoise shell frames is that each pair in unique because of the way they’re made.

I find it so difficult to find sandals I like. Most have those toe-poke things or a million straps and I just can’t be bothered with them!

  2. Cat

I think you look great in all of them! I’ve never worn a crop top before because I don’t want to show skin there, but that’s a good idea to pair it with something high waisted. I love how all of your shorts and pants are patterned 🙂 My favorite is the play suit. It’s very cute!

Lately I’ve been wearing jean shorts with a cute top and either flip flops or Vans shoes. I’m definitely someone who goes for more simple things 🙂

    • Holly

Thank you. 🙂 I love patterns but I sometimes find them difficult to wear and not very versatile.

I love flip flops! If only the weather was good enough to wear them more in the UK!

  3. Love all of your outfits! Perfectly summery 🙂 I especially love the patterned trousers, I think I’m going to have to invest in some!

    • Holly

Thank you. 🙂 I’m wearing those patterned trousers for work today because of the heat and they’re keeping me nice and cool!

  4. Susanne

Nothing bad with your poses or the wristband. You look a lot more natural than all those “pretending-to-be-a-top-model” outfit bloggers.
I would look like crap in that kind of shorts but they look very nice and comfortable for warm weather.

    • Holly

Haha some of the poses some bloggers pull in outfit photos make me laugh. I’m so glad to hear you think I love more natural!!

  5. Jamie

I really like the last outfit that looks like a dress. It really suits you!

I heard that Ray Ban sunglasses are hella expensive! Over here I heard they’re around $200.00? I think that’s how much they are here in California, but don’t quote me on that.

I’m glad you decided to share your outfits. It’s nice to see other bloggers sharing their outfits that they’ve wore on vacation.

    • Holly

The black pair are a limited edition pair because of the pattern they have on the inside so they were £135. I bought the tortoise ones from duty free so they were £104 I believe. They are really expensive but I think they’re worth it, and they’re just a treat. 🙂

      Thank you!

  6. It’s fab you’ve decided to make this post, it’s great to get off your comfort zone. I think you look great. I like the shorts and the tops, you made me think of a trip to H&M. xx

    • Holly

Thank you Anca. 🙂 I really like H&M. It’s reasonably priced and you can often find a lot of unique pieces in there.

  7. Cute outfits~ I love the romper a lot <3
