The Weekend Blog (Vol.77)

24th October 2015

iPhone 6

It feels like I’ve taken a blogging break as it’s been over a week since I last posted. I know I said I was relaxing my schedule but I didn’t mean this much!

Life has been a little hectic over the last couple of weeks. I always seem to have a to-do list as long as my arm, and unfortunately blogging hasn’t been a priority.

Normal service will resume soon…hopefully.

Last weekend I went home to Shropshire to spend some time with my parents. I felt like I needed a break from being an adult, and being at home allowed me to relax and rest.

It’s certainly made me excited for Christmas and going home for what will feel like an eternity (I have nearly 2 weeks off).

In other news, I went to see Hairspray last week at the Empire theatre with my friend Becky. It was my second time seeing the show, and the first time I saw it on the West End, so I had high expectations. I’m so glad I wasn’t disappointed. I smiled so much, from beginning to end, that my face hurt.

By the way, Becky has started a food blog, and I highly recommend you go take a look.

I found out yesterday that Liverpool is finally getting a proper Comic Con, and then Tyrone and I proceeded to dance around the room to celebrate. We’ve been wanting to go to a Comic Con for a while but it all adds up with the cost of tickets, trains and hotels (if we wanted to do a couple of days), so the fact we can now go to one that is within walking distance is super exciting.

Today I dragged Tyrone shopping with me. I’ve been desperate for a new pair of black boots because, thanks to my hip condition, I wear out shoes so quickly. I finally found a pair that are exactly what I’ve been looking.

Also, I upgraded my phone from an iPhone 4 to a 6. I’d had my iPhone for 3 years and so it was starting to die. It struggled to connect to the charge, the home button didn’t work and I couldn’t update the software. This is my first contract phone and now I feel like a real adult, but it felt so good going into the shop knowing that I could buy a phone with the money I’ve worked hard for.

Have a great weekend!

You’ll love the Comic Con. I haven’t been in the one in my area at all, as I’ve gone to other conventions, but I hope to go to Comic Con next year. 😀 I’ve only seen the movie, the first movie by John Waters and have loved it ever since. The remake? Not so much. They changed too much and it wasn’t nearly as fun. Glad you had a good time seeing it.

I haven’t seen the original movie. I prefer the stage musical to the latest movie as the latest movie cuts out a lot of the good songs, and the story is too different.

  2. Woot for the new upgrade! I’m thinking about upgrading my own phone, but it still works well, so I’ll wait until it’s on its last dying breath or something to upgrade XD

Life can get hectic. I know when it does, my blog always take a backseat for a while, so it’s not something new for me. In fact, sometimes the “forced hiatus” is what I need from my blog in order to appreciate it more, haha! XD

I like to hold on to a phone for as long as possible, but once they start dying there’s not a lot you can do.

I always come back from a ‘foced hiatus’ with more ideas and motivation.

  3. I can’t wait for Christmas either. Only a few more months to go. 🙂

Congratulations on the new phone. I still have my pay-as-you-go phone, and it’s fine for my needs.

I think this is the most excited I’ve ever been for Christmas. It’s creeping up fast.

I switched from a contract to pay as you go a few years back and it ended up costing me more than being on contract!

I’m glad you had a great time watching Hairspray! That’s awesome that you guys are getting a comic Con too. I love going to geeky conventions, but the costs can definitely add up if they’re not local.

Yay for the phone upgrade too! My last one was an iPhone 4 and now I have the 5s. The 6 is so tempting!

I hope things will be less hectic, so you can relax more!

It was London Comic Con last weekend so I’ve been looking at all the photos and getting myself super excited.

I love the 6 but the size is taking me a while to get use to. It’s quite wide and feels very fragile.

  5. Having Comic Con here is exciting, isn’t it? I would like to go there 🙂 I had a look on the Becky’s website, she has nice recipes, I like the last one as it’s one that I baked too 🙂

  6. Did you get the space grey iPhone? I assume that’s your photo in the post. 😀 I think you’ve made the right choice and it was the right time for you to upgrade too.

That’s awesome to hear about the Comic Con. I think that Sydney got one recently too, and my friends who were Comic Con lovers were super excited. Same as you, they also disliked that going to such an event would cost a lot of money and travel time. It’s awesome when something you like is initiated in your hometown or wherever you are. I feel the same about concerts in my area, no need to travel an hour just to get there. 😀

I’m glad you were pleased with the Hairspray production you saw. It can be quite disappointing going to a show and it not being what you expected. I haven’t seen a lot of musicals so I have yet to see a bad one, haha.

Yep, that’s my phone. I felt like a bit of an idiot saying “space grey” when the guy in the shop asked me which colour I wanted!

Liverpool is always one of the last cities in the country to get big events like Comic Cons or concerts. It’s only recently that big bands and musicians have started performing at our arena.

I’ve only seen one show that I was disappointed with but that was because of the sound quality and some annoying people in the audience, not the show itself.
