The Weekend Blog (Vol.70)

29th August 2015

Our new bookshelf

Sorry for the absence of a blog post on Thursday but the beginning of the week was just hectic; especially Wednesday.

On Wednesday my mum took me back to the train station, and on the way we called at a garden centre for lunch. I had to come back to Liverpool on Wednesday as a guy was coming to pick up my desk that I had sold on eBay. Long story short, I had two desks including a height adjustable one that I didn’t need, so I sold it to make some space in the flat.

As soon as the desk was gone Tyrone and I went straight to Argos to picked up a bookcase to put in the space that the desk once sat. I don’t know if you ever tried to carry a flat pack bookcase weighing 24kg and measuring 1.70 metres in length through the middle of a city but my god is it hard work. But at least we provided the people of Liverpool with some entertainment.

Anyway, I ordered us a pizza (from American Pizza Slice – best independent pizza takeaway in Liverpool!) the minute we got back to the flat to reward ourselves for the hard work and together we put together the bookcase (see final product above!).

Afterwards we had a bit of a rearrange in the flat and it’s all looking a lot better. We are also suppose to be getting a new sofa on Monday as our current one has fallen apart, so our flat is going to look brand new! I’m considering doing a home tour because it feel like our flat has changed so much since we moved in two years ago.

So after a crazy busy week with a wedding, birthday meals, a flat transformation, plus more, I’m hoping for a quieter week next week. I am planning on getting into 9 to 5 mode ready for when I start work in a couple of weeks. So I’ll be getting up at 7 and coding all day. Wish me luck, haha!

Have a great weekend!

It feels so great to get new furniture and watch your room/ flat transform. I would love to see a new home tour. I love seeing how other people live O:)

And getting up at 7 and coding all day sounds like my life right now. We have a subject this year called Computer Science ‘Programming Projects’, which basically means we get a lot of projects through out the year. It is really fun but it takes up a lot of time. The one we have due next wednesday requires us to program a rock scissor paper game with object oriented python! Haha

Also I can’t wait to hear more about when you start your job! I am so exited for you, web developing sounds like a lot of fun. I actually just got a volunteer job as an IT developer, but I don’t start until next wednesday so I do not know what taskt I will be doing. I think I might be working on a project that uses AngularJS.

I love looking around other people’s home too!

I don’t start for another two weeks but I’m also wondering what I’m going to be getting up to. I’m so excited!

I see Harley Quinn and Sack Boy. I had no idea you were a fan of them. Still, it’s an achievement to fix and rearrange so much in a room. I find it refreshing.

I can’t wait to hear more about your job, as well. I’m trying to get a job, myself so wish me luck! ^^

I’m a huge Harley Quinn fan. I will have to do a home tour just to show off more of my Harley figures. And Little Big Planet is one of mine and Tyrone’s favourite games to play together.

  3. I can imagine how difficult and funny was to walk with the bookcase through the city. A new sofa is so exciting too, I think you should make a house tour, is great to be house-proud x

  4. American pizza slice is amazing, when I was in liverpool I would buy a slice at the end of long days as a reward. I cannot believe you carried a bookcase like that! Must have been really tough. Your new bookcase looks nice though

I’m so glad to have found another American Pizza Slice fan!

I know, I think we are mad. Should have paid the ยฃ3 delivery cost or just got a taxi.

  5. I love the bookcase, looks like the old one I used to have! My current one is wood but has the brown woodgrain look. I think I will be keeping it when I move out. Also, canโ€™t believe it has already been two years! I am taken back to that old blog post of yours where you put your cleaning items in a rack under the sink… how long ago was that?! XD

Glad you got the bookcase home in the end, though. ๐Ÿ™‚ Pizza well deserved.

Good luck with the new gig. I hope you get a good sleeping schedule going and are well prepared. I am so far into it that I have ruined my sleeping patterns again and need to fix them! XD Coding all day has been a gift. I think you are also in the realm of โ€˜loving what you do [at work]โ€™. Go us. ๐Ÿ˜€

I know, right?! It only seems like it was yesterday I was outside my flat, sat on the floor in floods of tears because they’d given me the wrong keys, haha!!

Hopefully my sleeping pattern will be up to the job. I’ve been getting up early all summer I so it shouldn’t be too difficult for me to get out of bed, but then again I’m not a morning person.

  6. Wow, sounds like you’ve had a day full of events! At least you got a lot done! I’d love to see a house/room tour – I’m always so inspired and curious on how people style their houses ๐Ÿ˜›

I’ve been coding since 6am today so I feel ya girl! Its fun though, I have to admit. ๐Ÿ˜‰
