The Weekend Blog (Vol.66)

1st August 2015

New York and Med cruise scrapbooks

How is it August already?! Before we know it the Christmas stock will back in shops.

A lot has happened this week, so I thought I’d summarise using bullet points:

  • I won a Liverpool Independent card, just by re-tweeting a tweet on Twitter. This will get me discount at loads of independent shops and restaurants in Liverpool.
  • I got an amazing response on Twitter to a blogging/coding related project I am working on and sort of announced during a Twitter chat. More on that soon!

  • I went to see Ant-Man with Tyrone, which I enjoyed a lot more than I was expecting too.
  • I had my first job interview since April on Thursday, but I was so nervous I think I messed up. Lesson learnt: make the most out of my university’s career services while I can.
  • I applied for 8 jobs and one of the recruitment agencies I am with called me about a potential job they have for me. Not one of my best weeks in terms of job applications but there hasn’t been much to apply for.
  • I’m keeping up with the yoga. Today is day 14 of the 30 Days of Yoga challenge. Half way there tomorrow!
  • The Reese’s Krispy Kremes made a return to the UK and I got my hands on some. Last time they were on sale for such a short period that I missed them. I can confirm that they were worth the wait.
  • I made not one but two scrapbooks with all of my holiday photos in; one for New York and one for the Med cruise.
  • Tomorrow my dad and my brother Dean are coming over to Liverpool and we are off to watch Everton play for Duncan Ferguson’s testimonial match.
  • I’m still waiting for the bloody Windows 10 update to work!!!

Oh and this happened last night. Andy Summers, the guitarist of The Police, did an Ask Me Anything on Reddit. You might remember last year when Roger Daltrey of The Who did an AMA and he answered my question. Well, I thought it must have been a good question, considering he answered, so I asked Andy the same question, and he answered!

Andy Summers AMA Reddit

The Police were the first band I truly loved so this was quite special for me.

Have a great weekend!

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. Congratulations on winning discounts for the shops in Liverpool! Hope the project goes well! I have yet to watch Ant-Man but I’m hearing lots of good stuff about the movie. I should go see it soon ;).

Good luck with the job hunting process and the yoga challenge!! Don’t give up :).

  2. Congrats on winning that card. A lot of exciting things happened this week, that’s great. Don’t worry about the interview, is stressful and not always goes to plan.

Thank you! I had an interview today and I was a lot less nervous and it went well. I think I was just out of practice.

  3. Michelle

Congrats on winning! ^^ There’s no better feeling than winning something that can be used later. Also, that’s awesome that your question was answered on Reddit. Those AMA are pretty neat.

  4. We’re well over halfway into the year, and I’m still trying to figure out where it went.

Congrats on winning the card; I love discounts πŸ™‚ I loved Ant-Man, as well! Paul Rudd is so funny. Good luck with all the job hunting, etc.!

  5. Noone ever responds to my AMA questions! You’re lucky!
I recently started a little photo album, but unfortunately I don’t really get up to much! Hopefully this summer I’ll be able to add a lot more photos to it. I also just applied for three jobs today! All with a Council in the North Island (I live in the south!). I hope I get one. I really need some internship work!!

I wish you all the best for your job interviews! Hope you get a job you’re seeking. πŸ™‚

I’ve got a 100% success rate with AMAs. I always get there early and always ask simple questions that are quick to answer. It works for me.

Keep up with the job hunting! And thank you!

  6. Danielle

Interviews are always the hardest part about getting a new job. The anticipation prior to the appointment makes me so anxious that I can’t seem to get the right words out. Best wishes that your interview works out!

I’ve always wanted to try yoga but for whatever reason I would feel embarrassed to do it at home and have my boyfriend walk in, haha. So glad to see someone stick to something and who knows, after thirty days it’ll be something you enjoy the rest of your life!

    • Holly

I always get such bad stomach pains before an interview, so I end up focusing on them instead of what I’m suppose to be saying.

Don’t be embarrassed! I’m always in weird, awkward positions when my boyfriend turns up from work. Or he comes to the rescue when he hears me fall over because my balance is rubbish! I thought 30 days would be a chore but I actually look forward to it each day.
