The Weekend Blog (Vol.58)

6th June 2015

Island Escape in Ajaccio, Corsica, 2012

First things first, I apologise for the absence of a Weekend Blog last week. I went home last weekend and I was unaware that my laptop at home is now too slow to even run Firefox. Aside from that, last week was pretty uneventful.

But right now, I’m excited.

I’m off on my Mediterranean cruise this coming week and I’m looking forward to sunshine, unlimited cocktails and exploring new and familiar territories.

Seriously, it was worth sacrificing all those drunk nights out as a student for this. ;)

I’m going to be without internet for a week as the ship I’m on doesn’t have WiFi. I’m actually looking forward to the challenge, but you can guarantee I’ll be trying to find free WiFi in any port we visit so I can spam the hell out of Instagram, so do follow along.

I’m still debating as to whether or not I will schedule some posts for while I’m away, so if you see any new posts this week then great, but it not, you know I was too lazy.

This week has been average. I’ve been applying for more jobs, coding a new layout for Empfire, and not being as productive as I probably should have been.

Today marks my last day at my part-time job, which means I’m 100% unemployed now. I actually thoroughly enjoyed my time as an Insight Leader and I’m sad it’s come to an end, but that’s just one of the many downsides of not being a student any more. Ah well, the job search will resume once I’m back off my holiday.

Have a great weekend!

  5. Cat

Have fun on your cruise! I look forward to seeing your posts about it later :) I think it can be nice to go without internet for a while. It can be really relaxing to be free from online things.

Good luck on your job search! I hope you find something you like!

Thanks! In some ways I’m looking forward to being disconnected from my emails. I’m getting sick of recruitment emails!!

  6. Amy

Enjoy your wonderful cruise trip! I’ve been disconnected for 9 months before when I moved away from home and into a shared home where they all used dongles and wouldn’t even bother chipping in to setup an internet line… It was hard and challenging but it meant I was able to finish movies I’ve never seen/wanted to watch. Go out to socialise more and also pick up new hobbies :) I’m sure you’ll do fine and too busy to surf the interwebs!

Good luck with the job hunt too!

    xx

Thank you! 9 months?! Wow, that’s incredible.

I think not having the internet for so long would force me to be more creative with my time. I’m not sure I would cope!

  7. Elena

Good luck on the job hunt. And I hope you have a great time on the cruise. I think it will be a fun challenge to go without wifi for a while. It can be really liberating. (But I will still be following along on Instagram looking out for your pictures)

Thank you! In the end I decided not to turn wifi on, even if I would a hotspot. And honestly, it was amazing being internet free. I felt so relaxed not worrying about bills and job applications for a week. It was a lot to catch up with when I got back but it was worth it.

I’ll be making up for lost time with Instagram now that I’m back!!

  8. I hope you are having/have had a wonderful holiday x
