graduation ball shoes and clutch

Guess who’s finished their degree?!

On Monday I sat my last ever exam. It didn’t go too well, but I was skipping off campus with pure joy once I has finished it. Tyrone and I celebrated with a Pizza Hut.

I keep saying I’m unemployed, but I do still have my part-time job, which I guess will end soon as it kind of relies on me being a student. So I am on the hunt for a job. My aim is to apply for one job each day of the week, excluding weekends. It’s a difficult time because you constantly feel like you are being judged each time you send off an application form or attend an interview. You question every sentence you write and every answer you give.

What if that has completely messed up my chance of a job? What if I’m not putting across my skills in the right way? What is they think I’m not suited for the job because my degree is in geography, yet none of the jobs I’m applying for relate to my degree?

It’s tough, but I’m trying not to get too stressed about it. As I mentioned in Thursday’s post, I purposely made sure I would have enough money to get me through this summer without a job. Surely I will find something in 3 months. Surely.

I’m trying to use this period of “unemployment” in the best way possible, so I am trying to catch up with all the things I have set aside over the last 6 months. I’m definitely a lot less stressed, even with the worry of trying to find a job.

Today is the day of the Geography Ball. I’m excited but also sad to know that it will be one of the last times we will all be together, other than graduation. I hope to show you some outfit pictures next week (but there’s a sneak peak in the top picture).

Also, I’m off to a blogging event tomorrow in Manchester, if I can get up in time to catch a train. It certainly will be a struggle after a late night at the ball.

Have a great weekend!

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. Good luck with the job hunt x It’s a daunting process and not only for the first job, but for all of them.
Have fun at the ball and the blogging event, I can’t wait to read about it.

  2. Congratulations, Holly! πŸ˜€ You’re done, whoo hoo!

Good luck with the job hunt. Those are never fun X_X; I hope you land something good fast!

And that clutch is so pretty! I love the colour and the simple, yet elegant design! I’m not a clutch fan, but I’d so use that one!

Thank you! I’ve applied for lots of jobs already and I’m in touch with a recruitment agency which should hopefully be helpful.

The clutch was on sale, which was brilliant. It also has a chain strap-thing so you can also wear it on your shoulder or across your body, but you can detach it if you like.

  3. Eep! Congratulations! That is awesome πŸ™‚ Celebrating with Pizza Hutt is probably the best thing ever…and exactly how I would celebrate my last exam too.

Hope you have a good time at the ball and the blogging event! πŸ˜€

  4. Congrats ^^ It seems almost all my friends around me are finishing their degrees! Congrats!

  5. Awesome πŸ™‚ I hope you had an amazing night at the ball!
Good luck with the job hunting x x x

  6. Cat

Congrats on finishing your degree! The interview process is tough. It’s tiring and pretty stressful to be asked so many questions and to be judged on each one. Good luck on your job search though! I hope you find something soon!

Looking forward to your outfit photos πŸ™‚ I hope you had fun at the Geography Ball!

Thank you! Even just applying for jobs is taking hours! It seems I don’t like writing about myself, which is odd because I do it every week on the blog!

  7. Good luck getting a job, I’m sure you’ll find one soon but in the meantime make sure you enjoy your summer =] Application forms are insanely stressful! I always worry I’ve clicked the wrong page and am applying for wrong job. I’m certain you’ll find a great job soon!

Hope the bloggers event goes well! And the ball, your bag is a lovely colour!

Thank you. I’m spending so much time applying for jobs that I’m actually forgetting to take time out for myself!

I always feel so nervous when I send off an application. It’s so scary.

  8. Susanne

    Yay for your degree!
Good luck with the job hunting. I know all about that, since I was young during the 1990s recession. I hope you’ll be able to relax some too, and catch up with everything else you didn’t have time to do while studying.

Thank you! I keep forgetting to have some time for myself. I may have to book a holiday to force myself to take a break!!

  9. WOW! Congrats on finishing!! It must feel awesome! I’m still a year away (although it’ll only be six courses all up) and I feel a little relieved that it’s *almost* over!

Good luck with the job hunt! I totally know how you feel. Once I sent out like 20 emails in one week with my C.V (Just for dairy farming jobs) and had a call on the landline to tell me my cell number was wrong and that’s probably why I don’t have many calls haha, people (farmers) prefer to call the cell so they can get you at any time of day! Man I felt like a dork.

Love the little clutch! It’s cute! Hope you had an awesome time at the Ball!

      Thank you!

I’m keeping a list of all the jobs I apply for but I’m not sure that it’s the best idea because it’s pretty soul destroying. I’m going to check my mobile number on my CV!!
