The Weekend Blog | Sleepy

Boy have I been tired this week.

It was my first full week back at work following my holiday and I guess I’ve really been missing my daily afternoon siesta.

I’ve also been feeling quite anxious this week. I’ve started a new project at work and it’s my first solo build from scratch. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving it so far and learning a ton everyday, but it’s hard work. I just want to do the best I can possibly do.

On top of this I’ve been getting frustrated with the holiday company I went to Lanzarote with as I am trying to claim back my medical expenses that I had to pay out because of their lack of knowledge of the health system out there (the rep said I couldn’t use my European Health card because we’d left the EU – what an idiot!). It’s such a slow process and now their “legal team” is involved. *rolls eyes*

I had a disaster of a driving lesson on Wednesday because I was so tired and wasn’t thinking straight. It was my first bad lesson since re-starting to learn and I felt pretty crap afterwards.

More than anything, I’m just really missing my parents. I went on holiday for a week, and then they started a cruise while I was away, so we haven’t spoken in like three weeks, which I’ve found incredibly difficult. We text every day but I’ve missed telling her about my trip and getting her advice on what to do about the whole food poisoning saga.

Yesterday I went go-karting with work, and I have to say it cheered me up immensely, even if I did come last in my group in both races. I can’t wait to go again as I really did have so much fun. I’m thinking it would be a good activity for Tyrone’s birthday in October.

Tyrone and I were planning on packing up a picnic and taking a long walk along the beach today but the weather is still horrific, so instead we’re stuck inside. In a way it’s nice to be able to relax and get my energy levels back up to normal, but at the same time I’m dying to get outside and explore the beautiful beaches I live so close to.

Ah well, that’s life.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. Hope you get a refund for the medical expenses you had to pay. Go-karting seems fun although I haven’t tried it yet. There’s a go-kart zone in our city but haven’t got around to trying it. Hope to try it soon.

Thanks! I might have to send quite a few angry emails but I’m determined!

You should give it ago! It’s great fun. :)

  2. Sometimes it feels like you need a holiday to get over your holiday! I hope the issue with the medical expenses get sorted soon, that’s such a pain =/ Go-Karting sounds like it would have been great fun! It would be great if it was something you could do regularly.
I hope the weather cheers up! I’m fed up of being indoors!

I definetly feel like that. Fortunately I’m off to Norway next month for some serious relaxation!

I would love to go more regularly. When the place first opened we all thought we’d spend every lunch break there as it’s right next to our office, but unfortunately it’s not cheap.

Sorry to hear that you’ve had a tiring week :( That sounds frustrating to deal with the holiday company. I hope they really do reimburse you for the medical expenses. Good luck on your work project though! It sounds exciting to do your own solo project from scratch. It’s more work, but I think it’s nice when you don’t have to worry about someone else’s existing work.

I went go-karting once, and I was pretty bad at it, haha. I blame it on my height! I actually had issues reaching the pedals and pushing them down all the way. I’m glad you had fun!

I hope next week will be better!

Yes, I always worry about messing up someone else’s work when we are working on the same project!

I was told that I would probably be quite quick because I’m so light but I actually found it to be a disadvantage as I kept sliding out of my seat!

  4. Good luck with your new project at work! Hard work pays off in the future, and you’ll have tons of fun learning :).

Hope the holiday company owns up their mistake with the lack of knowledge. I can imagine the headache on getting someone to actually do something. Even with these events, I’m glad to see that you felt better after some relaxation through go-karting and staying in.

Hope the rest of your weekend goes well!

      Thank you!

It’s so frustrating. They just keep passing my complaint on, each time saying it will be 28 days until I get a response. I won’t give up though.

  5. What a hassle with the food poisoning, I hope it will be sorted out soon. I was thinking of go-karting for my husband’s birthday (in October :D ), I never tried it before.

You should go! We went to Team Sport which is on the Brunswick business park, so really close to the city centre. I think they do special offers occasionally.

  6. I’m so sorry that they aren’t dealing with the issue nicely. I would be fuming! :( I hope it gets sorted as soon as possible and you get some sort of compensation or discount or refund for the medical expenses.

I love go-karting, I’ve only been twice but both times I had such a blast! You should definitely go again in October!
