The Weekend Blog | Promotion

Before we begin, I thought it was worth mentioning that this is my 400th blog post!

And I know there is some of you out there who have been reading from day one, so thank you sticking around for 400 posts!

Fortunately my 400th post features some good news…

On Wednesday I got a pretty awesome surprise.

I got a promotion!

I’m no longer a junior!

I was totally not expecting it. Especially considering I’ve only been working as a junior developer for a year and that you are normally a junior for longer than this.

I’ve worked hard over the past year to prove I was the right person for the job and that taking on someone with no relevant qualifications was worth the risk. I’m just so happy that my work has been recognised and rewarded.

And I’m happy because the pay rise will come in handy now I own a car. I can afford to put petrol in it! Woo!

It’s funny because the night before I go promoted I’d wrote an entry in my journal about self-doubt and how I felt like I could be doing more to get to where I want to be.

As it turns out, in reality, I’m doing just fine. I’m just a worrier.

The timing of my promotion coincided with a colleague’s leaving drinks so it was a great way to celebrate. But then I ended up with a bit of hangover the next day. When will I learn?!

This weekend has just been really relaxed. Tyrone and I went into Liverpool yesterday because it feels like ages since we’ve been shopping in town. I treated myself to some goodies from Victoria’s Secrets as a sort of present for my promotion. I also bought that box of Krispy Kremes you can see up there because, well, I don’t treat myself a enough.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. Congratulations on the promotion! How exciting!

I know that most people don’t feel this way but watching other people succeed is amazing to me. It’s so inspiring and only motivates me. I’m so happy for you and hope that many more good things are in store for you!

Also, those donuts look so flippin’ good!

      Thank you!

No, I feel exactly the same way. I see others succeeding in life and it drives me.

Those doughnuts were so good! Sadly they’re almost all gone already!

  2. Congratulations on getting a promotion! It’s great to hear that you worked really hard to earn this advancement a year later. It sounds like this company is definitly a place you want to be long term. You deserved those self treats. I’m happy to see your hard work paying off :).

  3. Congratulations on your promotion! The last few months have been great for you, I’m very happy for you. x

Thank you! Yes, people are telling me to buy a Lottery ticket because me luck has been so good recently, haha!

  4. Cat

Congrats on your promotion! That’s awesome that your company recognizes your work, and that you got it earlier than expected! That must have been a relief after writing an entry about self-doubt. Sometimes I feel like that bit of worrying is what helps us do more :) I’m glad you had a relaxing weekend afterwards, and you totally deserve to treat yourself!

Thank you Cat! I think that’s why I found it such a shock. I felt like I could be better but little did I know I was going to get promoted the next day.
