The Weekend Blog | Heatwave

The Weekend Blog | Heatwave

Okay, so I’m always moaning about the weather, but this week the UK has been experiencing a heatwave and it’s really cheered me up.

I know a lot of people don’t like the heat and find it a burden, but I find that my joints hurt less, my acne improved and my general happiness improves. I should probably move abroad…

As as say, I’ve been a lot happier this week. For the last few weeks I’ve been a bit “down in the dumps” and I think it was a lot to do with coming back from my holiday, especially because of the whole food poisoning situation.

Side note: I’ve still not heard anything. Thomson are crap.

However, last weekend I told myself that I had to do make myself feel better, so Tyrone and I went for a long walk. We paid a visit to Bidston Hill as it is just a short walk away from our house and I had always wanted to see the windmill on top up close.

When I was a child and my dad brought me up to Liverpool to watch Everton play, I would always look out for the windmill on top of the hill as I knew it meant we were almost there. Even the day my parents drove me to Liverpool when I moved here for university I kept an eye out for the windmill.

It’s nothing special to be honest, but I feel like I have a special connection to it.

Bidston Hill is well worth a visit though. The views are spectacular from on top. If you look one way you can see the skyline of Liverpool, and if you turn 180° you can see Wales and Snowdonia.

This past week I have been waking up and feeling more positive, and so I feel like I’ve had a good week despite the fact nothing interesting happened (even my driving lesson was cancelled!).

I’m hoping I can take this positivity through to next week.

Have a great weekend!

P.S. That super cute print is from That Lame Company.

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. I have been unbelievably happy with the weather in the UK! We finally have a summer – thankfully I was off on what was recorded to be the hottest day of the year, so far.

Better weather definitely improves my mood, as well. I find myself more relaxed and more willing to do things :) I saw what happened with Thomson on stutter – how unbelievably shit, they better yet back to you!

    Really love the print!

I wish I could have been off that day. But I was kind of glad I was in an air conditioned office!

That is really great that you have been feeling more positive I hope that it does continue. It is funny how certain places and things stay with you and have special meaning. :)

It’s been hot in Bergen as well for the past four days as well. (This rarley happens, as it probably rains 95% of the year) It has been a nice change, and it has improved my mood so much. Unfortunately it is supposed to start raining again next week :(

I saw your instagram post about the windmill, how fun that you finally got to visit it. It’s fun to explore new places!

And what a lovely picture; congrats on your new house plant, and good luck keeping it alive :P

I hope the nice weather returns to Norway soon. I’m visiting Oslofjord in August and I’m hoping that it’s lovely and warm.

Haha, thank you! I’m not very good at keeping plants alive but I’ll try my best. ;)

  4. I’ve been walking a lot less now because if I were to walk right now here in Florida, I would literally melt.

Haha, the temperatures in the UK don’t even get that high but when we have a heat wave everything stops!

  5. Amy

It’s definitely been way too hot for me this week! This new house is so warm – I’ve had the Windows open all week! Don’t think I’m built for nice weather!

Hope you had fun this weekend! I love seeing things from my childhood. I always smile when I see Grimbsy town centre, because it reminds me of how excited I felt that we were nearly in Cleethorpes when I was little. Wish everything was still as exciting now!

    Really love the print!

You’re going to Norway? That’s so cool! Norway is a fabulous country, so pretty. The weather should be ok in August, or at least not too bad. Here in Sweden we’ve had a heatwave too, and still have it, and I totally love it. Norway and Sweden have quite similar weather.
As for acne, I also have problems with it, but a girl at work told me her daughter started using coconut oil and got much better, so I’ve been trying that, and it’s been much better actually. I clean my face with clean raw coconut oil (as raw as possible) every night and as long as I do that, my skin is quite good! It’s like it calms down the skin. Maybe you could try that too.

I keep looking at pictures of Norway and I can’t believe how pretty it is. I will definitely be taking my camera.

Ah, I will give coconut oil a try! Thanks for the recommendation! It has so many uses, but I’ve never though to put it on my face before.
