The Weekend Blog | A quiet week

We’ve been spoilt to gorgeous weather this week in England. Well, apart from Tuesday, but we’ll just pretend that didn’t happen.

I feel like I’ve had a normal, quiet week this week, which makes a change. It’s been lovely to have an empty schedule and to able to focus on me and doing the things I enjoy.

I’ve been coding in my spare time, working out and playing on games (currently replaying a childhood favourite – Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit on PS2).

Last weekend we finally made it to Birkenhead Park and we were surprised how such an incredible green space is so close to where we live. I’m planning on returning soon with my camera to take some photographs (including of the super friendly squires) to share on my blog sometime.

Tyrone’s mum also came to visit last weekend and she helped us make some real progress on the garden. We are even planning on having a barbecue tomorrow afternoon; weather permitting.

Today we just popped over the water to Liverpool to have a nose around the shops because we haven’t been for quite a while, and we stopped off at our favourite pizza restaurant, American Pizza Slice, for a spot of lunch.

And tonight I’ll be watching Eurovision because it’s my guilty pleasure!

I’m going to be away next week in Hertfordshire for work, and apparently the hotel has rubbish Wi-Fi (and if they admit to slow Wi-Fi then you know it’s bad!) so I might lose the will to live. But I’m looking forward to the trip and I’m sure it will be a great experience.

And while we are on the topic of work trips, I thought I would finally tell you that in August I’m going to Norway! I’m going with work but not for work, if you get what I mean. I’m so excited as Norway has been on my travel bucket list for years so I feel really lucky to have this opportunity thanks to my job.

Have a great weekend!

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. Sounds like a nice easy week Holly and what a fab trip to look forward to. Did you know Central Park NY is based on the Birkenhead Park design.

Yes! I was really surprised to find this out! I thought it would be the other way around, haha!

  2. First off, I have to say that I’m jealous over the nice weather, empty schedule and for all of the trips you get to take through work. We went from 36 degrees C to 0 in the span of less than a week and the buildings I work in are also having troubles adjusting to our weather haha.

I really need to take some time off and enjoy Spring/Summer. Everywhere I look, everyone seems to be traveling to new places and I feel like I’m missing out. Norway is also on my bucket list!

Woah, that’s a huge change in temperature. A few weeks ago, in the space of a week it went from heatwave weather to snow.

  3. That is awesome to hear about Norway! Not so awesome about the hotel wi-fi though. I’m sure you will probably download all the e-books and load everything on your laptop before you leave, just in case you don’t survive XD

Our work is taking us to San Diego in July, it’s not really super-work-related but we will be all getting together and it should be fun. We have a developer who works remotely in Norway so he won’t be in Norway, haha. :P Norway is on my list of places to go, too, though!

I made sure my Kindle was full of books, haha! Luckily we moved to another hotel where the WiFi was better.

San Diego?!! That’s incredible! I’m so jealous!

  4. I’m glad you had a lovely weekend. The squirrels in Birkenhead park will eat from your hand (I linked a post) :) I hope you’ll have a great week in Hertfordshire xx

  5. It snowed here today in Southwestern Ontario for a chunk of the day. Let’s say that, as a snow-loving and cold-loving person, I was not happy for that to arrive in the middle of May… Send the good weather back to Canada when it’s had its run in the UK. ;)

I heard that Australia participated in Eurovision and I was so confused. If Australia can get in… then so should basically every part of the world that the British and Spanish colonised ages ago!

Norway!!! Ahh!! I’m excited to see pictures you take (because I’m really hoping you take pictures). I think all the photographs of Norway that I’ve seen have featured a winter wonderland. :P I bet it’ll be a great trip!

Eurovision has become full of countries that aren’t in Europe! I don’t get the point any more. I just like the sarcastic commentary!

I will definitely be taking pictures!!

  6. Cat

Sometimes I really like having a week without any plans :) It’s good to get some personal time in there to work on side projects and hobbies! It sounds like a nice week, even if it was a quiet one.

I hope you have a great trip, and I’m jealous that you’ll be going to Norway later! It’s been on my travel list too, especially since I have a friend there that I’d like to meet in person!
