My dissertation

On Wednesday I finished my dissertation, and submitted it on Thursday. I can’t tell you how much of a relief it was, and how happy I am to never talk about it again. Well, until my viva anyway.

I shocked a lot of people when I told them it was only 4,000 words, but then it was compulsory for us to go out and collect the data we needed ourselves. So, while it may have been only 4,000 words, I did actually spend a lot of time sending out emails, calling businesses and walking back and forth to the docks to conduct interviews, make observations and taking photographs.

In a way, it’s kind of sad to see it sent off because now I’m even closer to the end of my degree. I have three more piece of coursework and three more exams before it’s all over. It only feel like yesterday I was writing a post about getting into university. I’m not sure where the time has gone.

University has certainly been a love/hate relationship, and even now I can’t decide how I feel about it.

Even though I’ve spent most of my week in the flat working on my dissertation, it’s been a good week.

I received a Body Shop gift card this week in the post as compensation for a complaint I made (I was told their was a minimum spend on a offer when there wasn’t) and so I popped along to spend it. I purchased some of the products from their seaweed line, including the most amazing face mask.

On Thursday Tyrone and I found out we’d landed tickets to go and see the Jeremy Kyle Show being filmed (*cue your laughter*) in April which should be fun. We’ve got a hotel voucher from the competition I won over at MissPond’s blog, and so we thought we might as well use it to stay a night in Manchester before the show.

Yesterday I went along to the North West Blogger Meet Up which was a fantastic event where I got to meet loads of bloggers, including Anca. I’m planning on writing a blog post about it and will share in the week. Honestly, you should see the size of the goodie bag!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

P.S. I thought I’d start numbering my Weekend Blog posts in the title because WordPress has started over-writing some with them all having the same title. πŸ˜‰

Enjoyed this post? Why not share it...

  1. Jealous about the Jezza K live. Seriously. That stuff is like crack to me.

  2. Congrats for the dissertation and the vouchers and the tickets πŸ™‚ It was great meeting you.

  3. So effing jealous about you going to see Jezza. I went when I was a fresher and bloody loved it! I want to go and see Judge Rinder being filmed (my new favourite terrible tv show!) I hope you enjoy your stay in Manchester- let me know if you have an hour spare and are up for a brew in the centre or something πŸ™‚ x

It seems like a very student-y thing to do! I also love Judge Rinder. Clearly I watch way too much rubbish TV.

I am totally up for meeting for a drink! I’ll message you near the time to see if we are both free at a similar time. πŸ˜€

  4. Congratulations, and good luck with the few bits you have left. There are still times where I can’t decided if I loved university or not, but I miss the friends I made there. Keep in touch with everyone!

Enjoy Jeremy Kyle! A lot of my friends have gone and they really enjoyed it! I’d be nervous I’d laugh at something I wasn’t meant to and he’d shout at me though!

That’s nice of the body shop to give you a voucher to make up for it. Their seaweed range looks great, as does there vitamin E range. I might have to splash out once I’ve ran out of moisturiser!

There are so many great pictures from the meet up, hope you all had a great time!

I really hope he does that thing where he asks the audience if they think someone has cheated. Or where he says “Ignore them, they should be at work.”. Honestly, it would make my day.

  5. Congratulations on finishing and submitting your dissertation! I managed to avoid doing one myself but remember only too well those mixed feelings you talk about. Enjoy your last weeks and make them something to remember! πŸ™‚

I envy you getting out of doing a dissertation. The data collection part of mine was a nightmare.

  6. Congratulations on finally finishing your dissertation! All of your work paid off with having the final printed version out there. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the rest of your coursework before getting your degree!

Sounds like you had a pretty interesting weekend! It’s great to meet other bloggers out there. I’m still waiting to meet my first one in person *o*.

Thank you! Meeting other bloggers is really inspiring. I’m sure you will get to meet another blogger some day. πŸ™‚

  7. Sounds like you had a good weekend. I always enjoy meeting different bloggers. Congrats on finishing your dissertation. From the sounds of it, it was a lot of hard work and I hope that hard work pays off!
