My favourite podcasts to listen to

My favourite podcasts to listen to

I remember the very early days of podcasts and how different they were back then to what they are today. I subscribed to podcasts from my favourite TV comedy shows or radio shows, but really they were just snippets of the recordings bundled together to make a smaller version of the show that you could listen to on the go. Eventually I got bored of the podcasts I listened to, so I unsubscribed and kind of forgot about their existence.

In recent years, podcasts have come popular once again, and although it took me a while, I’ve rejoined the podcast bandwagon. Nothing excites me more than getting into work to discover that there is a new episode of a podcast I love sitting on my iPhone ready for me to listen to while I get on with my job.

I’ve managed to find so many great podcasts on a wide range of topics that interest me, and today I thought I would share my favourites with you.

#girlboss radio

I fell in love with the book #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso when I read it last year, so when I discovered that she had started a podcast I hit subscribe instantly.

Sophia interviews successful women to get a real insight into their lives and to find out how they got to where they are today. It is so inspiring and always leaves me feeling motivated. It’s also incredibly funny as Sophia is joined by actress Liz Carey at the beginning of each episode, and together they have such an amazing chemistry. It’s complete toilet humour but I love it!

Serial

You’ve all heard of Serial, right? And you all know how amazingly gripping it is?

Well, if you don’t know what Serial is then you are missing out. Each season of the podcast tells a real life story. For instance, in the first season they told the story of the murder of Hae Min Lee, believed to have been committed by Adnan Syed. The story gripped the world and the case has received a lot of media attention. I won’t say anymore because I don’t want to ruin it for those who haven’t listened, but you seriously need Serial in your life asap.

The Minimalists Podcast

I wouldn’t say I’m a minimalist, but there are certain ideas and beliefs from the minimalist movement that I embrace in my life. The Minimalists Podcast is bought to you by The Minimalists, of course, who have an amazing blog with some real thought provoking articles.

In each episode they discuss a topic such as relationships, priorities, technology or education and their connections to minimalism, and they also answer the questions of listeners.

I find it such an easy-going podcast to listen to and it always makes we want to run home and throw out (nearly) all of my belongings.

The Lively Show

The Lively Show is a lifestlye podcast with the aim of adding “a little extra intention to your everyday”. In each episode Jess interviews business owners, bloggers, authors and life coaches about various aspects of life including money, wellness, simplifying, business, food, style and relationships.

In all honesty, not every single episode of the show has appealed to me and my interests, but there have been epsiodes that have left me feeling so uplifted and inspired. With over 120 episodes it’s likely you will find something that interests you.

Budgets and Cents

I’ve never been in debt, or had any problems with money, but for some reason I am obsessed with money advice provided in the Budgets and Cents podcast. I guess I just love talking about money, savings and budgetting!

The podcast features Cait and Carrie; two bloggers who have learned to manage their money better in order to pay off their huge debts.

If you are also interested in money, whether or not you are in debt, I think this podcast would really interest you. As I say, I have never been in debt, but Cait and Carrie share smart tips for saving money that may benefit even the most savvy savers out there.

Make It Happen

I’ve followed Jen Carrington from the days when she blogger about lifestyle and beauty, and I’m fascinated to see how she changed her blog and created a business from it.

In the Make It Happen podcast, Jen interviews fellow entrepreneurs about the story behind their business and digs deep to reveal tips, tricks and secrets behind successful businesses.

I often dream about starting my own business and I feel like I’ve learned a lot from this podcast. One day I might be able to put it into practice.

Thank you! It went really well, surprisingly!

Serial is my favourite and I think it’s a really good one to start with if you aren’t really into podcasts.
