Hello, I’m Bad Luck Brian.

17th October 2012

Right now I should be in a lecture, but thanks to my phone I am not.

I set my alarm on my phone for 7am. I always set my alarm for 2 hours before a lecture so that I have enough time to have a shower and get breakfast at a leisurely pace. As I started to wake up this morning I felt really quite awake. I was expecting to feel tired after having not much sleep (stupid hip pain). As my eyes opened I realised there was a lot more light shining through my bedroom window than there usually is at 7am. I quickly grabbed my phone to check the time, and that’s when I realised my phone was off. I kept touching the on button but it wasn’t turning on. Crap! I got up and found my iPod to check the time on that, because it doesn’t turn itself off randomly (Thanks Apple!). That’s when I realised it was almost 10am!

My phone still wouldn’t turn on, so I took out the battery and replaced it back in the phone again. It turned on. Seriously? What has my luck become?! My phone has never failed me like this before. Yes, it’s not been the best phone in the world, but I never expected it to do this to me. I’ve missed a pretty important lecture and now I feel terrible. I’ve never missed a day of school/college/uni before due to missing my alarm. I’ve always had a genuine excuse. Yet I feel awful and guilty. I mean, people miss lectures all the time due to a hangover but I wanted to go to this lecture. I didn’t want to miss a day of university, especially when I am paying Β£9000 a year for this!!

I’m going try not to feel so guilty for the rest of the day. I’m going into the city to buy an alarm clock.

Last night I went to see the Jesus Christ Superstar 2012 tour at the Echo Arena with my flat mate Sharon. I’ve never lived so close to an arena so I feel like I should make the most of it. Instead of travelling half an hour in the car to a station and then an hour on a train, I only had to walk for 30 minutes to get to the arena. Brilliant!

Anyway, I was so excited about seeing the show as I knew Chris Moyles was in it, and I’m a big fan of his. Also in the show were Tim Minchin and Melanie C. I’ve seen West End shows before, but being in an arena made this show totally different. The atmosphere was amazing. Although the songs are the same as the original musical, it has been updated a lot and it is set in modern times. I loved this because it made it feel less religious and it was a real pleasure to watch. It has a real rock feel to it. I have to say, Tim Minchin is an amazing singer. I never realised before just how good he is. Without him the show wouldn’t have been the same. Chris Moyles has a ridiculously cushy job in the show as he is only in it for about 5 minutes!

Tyrone came to visit at the weekend. I hadn’t really made any plans so on the Saturday we decided to go exploring by the Mersey. Turns out I live closer to it than I first thought. We ended up finding the Museum of Liverpool so we spent some time in there. It’s a great museum and best of all it’s free entry. We then went shopping and in the evening I cooked non-meat meatballs for dinner for Ty. They weren’t bad actually. πŸ™‚ After dinner we decided to return to the docks as I thought it would be really nice all lit up at night. I was right. It was so beautiful but slightly cold by the Mersey.

I love Liverpool. The city, that is. Not the football team. πŸ˜›

How weird that your phone randomly turned off. Mine hasn’t done that before, but… I have forgotten to set the alarm in the first place, lol. I keep thinking that I should get a real alarm clock, but I’m still using my phone. That sucks that you missed your lecture though πŸ™ You didn’t mean to do it though, so don’t feel guilty!

Sounds like you had a good weekend! I’m glad Tyrone is able to visit you πŸ™‚
